Roon ARC + Tailscale bandwidth needed?

Yesterday I was using tailscale and it stopped on me and couldn’t connect. I was at a park so I’m not sure if it was a signal issue. Anyone know the minimum bandwidth needed for Arc + Tailscale?

It will only be a little bit more than ARC without tailscale. That, in turn, depends upon your streaming settings in ARC - but remember: When using Tailscale, it is likely to be using the ‘WiFi’ settings rather than the ‘Cellular’ settings because it thinks it is connected to the same network as your Roon Server.

I say ‘likely’ because, whilst I believe that this is the case, I have not confirmed it.

It’s not. It will use whatever you set in arc for WiFi or cellular. If your on cellular arc uses cellular settings or on WiFi the WiFi settings. Danny mentioned some oddity for it on RoonOs but I can say it doesn’t affect me with dietpi at all. Switches bandwidth according to connection of the phone. Tailscale has no effect here why would it?

So essentially there needs to be better integration?

Maybe I need to further test. Sometimes it drops out on my end.

Cellular drops out quite often you can’t change that. If you have bad data not even Tailscale can connect. Sometime the iphones data just stops too when using Tailscale or other VPN I have found and restart will bring it back. None of this is Roons domain though.
