I have problem with testing connection in settings/Roon ARC. I used to port 55000. I have forward this port on my firewall: IP/TCP/55000 and I see this screen: { "ipv4_connectivity": {"status":"NetworkError","status_code":504,"error":"error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined"}, "external_ip": {"actual_external_ip":"XX.aaa.bbb.ccc","actual_external_ipv6":"null","router_external_ip":"null"}, "natpmp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"}, "upnp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"}}
Before update to latest version of Roon/Roon Arc and server everythink was ok and testing connection was ok.
Thank you for your quick answer, but the method you presented does not solve my problem.
Roon Arc worked for several years without any problems. I have forwarded port 55000 TCP WAN and 55000 TCP LAN by manual port forwarding. I check opening port by Telnet and it’s 100% open!
The Roon Arc connection works without any problems, I just tested it when I was away from home. It turned out that only the connection test did not work properly. This has been happening since I installed the latest Roon, Roon ARC and Roon Server update on my Synology server this morning.
Yesterday this function certainly worked well. Something is wrong with the latest update. I have a Router connected to Bridge. Everything has been unchanged for years.
Hi @Bruno_Winyle,
Thanks for your message. I just want to make sure I fully understand—are you saying that ARC is working as expected, and the only issue is the error message you’re seeing in the settings? If so, it may simply be a UI issue rather than a sign of something not working correctly.
There’s a Reload button on the ARC settings page—could you try clicking that to see if the error message clears? If it doesn’t, we’ll definitely take a closer look. But if ARC is still able to connect and function normally, it’s likely just a visual glitch rather than a connectivity issue.
Hi,
I’m a power user, so I try everything before reaching out to Roon support.
This bug happened after installing the new version of Roon.
Maybe check that?
If you try to change your port in both your router and ARC, does that help? We haven’t seen any influx of port forwarding issues since the release. What is the model/manufacturer of your router/modem/ISP in case this is related?
I’ve unlisted this thread so it remains private between you and our Technical Support team.
You mention the normal Arc app functions normally without issue, but you have issues with the ‘test’ app - are you referring to the early access version of Arc? Is there any reason you’d rather not use the production version of Arc?
No, we misunderstood each other. I have updated Roon, Roon ARC and Server to the latest version i.e. 2.49 (build 1525). I wrote about this in first post. In the Roon/Roon Arc tab, the only thing that fails is the port forwarding test, which is not true, because the port forwarding works 100% well. You need to check the redirection test mechanism to see why it reports an error. Maybe it’s related to IPv6 which is not there, I use IPv4?
Hi @Bruno_Winyle,
We activated diagnostics on your Roon Server, but the request failed in an unusual way.
Do you happen to have any security software, firewalls, or antivirus tools running on the device hosting your Roon Server? It’s possible that something like this is blocking the diagnostic request.
We suspect there could be a connection between this issue and the ARC port test showing a false negative.
Hi,
I found the reason! The firewall blocked network traffic from countries from which there were attacks on my server. Among others USA.
Your server is, I think, in the United States of America, so after temporarily disabling this rule, the test passes
Please give me the IP address of your server that is responsible for ARC etc. I will add it to the white list.
Additionally, please let me know whether the ports in the attached screenshot should be forwarded within the ROON server. Synology Server reports that it will forward these ports after the Synology Server restarts.
Thanks for letting us know you were able to find the cause of the issue! The Roon ports and IPs can change, they are not static. If you wish, you can look over your Roon logs by using these instructions, and by searching for [mobile] [remoteconnectivity] for the port test lines. Hope this helps!
