(Yes, disco is a guilty pleasure - but I love it.)
The attached image shows that Pono/JRiver had no problem grouping all 80 tracks correctly into 4 discs when I ripped them.
But for some reason Roon has obliterated those albums into 80 separate albums!!!
The UI for Edit Track Grouping (image attached for one of the disco tracks) is positively inscrutable. How am I supposed to use this to regroup all 80 tracks into 4 CDs??? I don’t find a help topic on using this bizarre UI.
But more importantly, why did Roon do this in the first place??? Metadata is supposed to be your strength, but this is simply god awful.
There is a Merge Albums feature, where you could select the individual “albums” with one song and then merge them together. However, that would be too much work for your situation.
Check out the instructions here and edit your folder structure for the boxed set.
Thanks for the link. But per the instructions below, I don’t see a way to “select the various discs in the album browser, and then choose Merge.” If I click an album in the gallery, I’m taken to the page for that album.
How do I multi-select the various albums? And where is the Merge option?
“If a set you’ve imported doesn’t seem to be identifying properly, you can edit your files directly, or you can edit the album in Roon. If your set is split up, you can select the various discs in the album browser, and then choose Merge to combine them into a single disc.”
In the album view in your last screenshot, you can right click (or long press on a tablet) each album and then click Edit at the top right of the screen. Then select Merge Albums.
sometimes its worth looking at the metadata of the original tracks when this happens. I suspect there may be something a bit wrong with either disc number or album artist? It may give you a clue why this has happened.
Without knowing more about your tags and folder structure, it’s hard to know why this didn’t work as expected.
If you look over our recommendations you can probably get a sense of why, but let us know if you can’t figure out why these sets required manual grooming and we can take a look.
