Describe the issue

Two issues (probably related). (1) Roon can’t see my Hegel H190 as an endpoint anymore. When I open the Roon App on my Mac Mini, it just says “System Output”. It used to give me two options for the H190 (one of which was USB and the other the Roon Ready option).

(2) The Roon App on my iPhone can’t connect to the server.

I have tried resetting all devices (router, Mac, amp) to no avail. I have updated all software and firmware too. Any help gratefully received.

Describe your network setup

Use VirginMedia router. Never been a problem. Mac is connected via WiFi and there is a USB connection between it and the H190. The H190 is directly connected to Ethernet.

Is your H190 indeed on the same subnet as your Roon Server? You can check its IP address by long pressing the top Play button on your metal (RC8) remote control and then navigate through its menu with the PREV and NEXT buttons.

It shows up as a TE7022 USB device in MacOS.

This is from a previous support ticket.

I would try enabling the TE70222 Audio device, choose it as the target and try playing something to it and see.

Sadly no joy. It seemed to change in the last week. It had been fine for a year!

Clarification/update

  1. I never had a problem until a few days ago. Could it be to do with the recent update?

  2. I just made my more recent Mac my serve to make sure it wasn’t my ancient MacMini and it too can’t see my amp.

  3. My Roon subscription will renew on 11th March. I might just bin it it I can’t sort it.

I had a similar thing on my Hegel 190 awhile back. For me it was sorted by resetting the Hegel to factory settings.

Hold play for 5 seconds, use prev/next to find the reset option.

Hello @Alexander_Cobb ,

Since you’re running macOS, the behavior you’re seeing is consistent with the newer, stricter Local Network permission controls in the recent macOS releases.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
  2. Make sure Roon and Roon Server are both enabled
  3. Even if they are already enabled, please toggle them off and back on
  4. Fully quit Roon Server from the macOS menu bar / task bar
  5. Reboot your Mac
  6. After reboot, launch Roon again and check if the devices is avaliable again.

Once these permissions are refreshed and the system restarted, your audio devices should reappear.

Please let us know if the issue persists after these steps, and we’ll continue from there.
