Rien, il ne se passe rien. Pourtant, mon appli StreamMagic qui pilote mon enceine connectée voit très bien mon NAS, il est "monté" tout seul lors de la configuration. J'ai regardé votre page d'aide, le smb est bien activé sur le NAS, le partage de fichiers sur le Mac est ok. Please help, j'y ai passé plus de 3h à chercher, ça ne fonctionne pas !

hello, I am in the process of testing Roon, I installed the server on a MacBook (Apple). I can’t get Roon to see my Synology DS715 NAS, I tried all the ways to enter the address, with smb, without smb, with the name of my NAS, with its IP, by adding the port, by removing the port. Nothing, nothing happens. However, my StreamMagic app which controls my connected speaker sees my NAS very well, it is “mounted” by itself during configuration. I looked at your help page, smb is activated on the NAS, file sharing on the Mac is ok. Please help, I spent more than 3 hours looking there, it doesn’t work!
Since you’re running macOS, the behavior you’re seeing is consistent with the newer, stricter Local Network permission controls in the recent macOS releases.
Please try the following steps:
Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
Make sure Roon and Roon Server are both enabled
Even if they are already enabled, please toggle them off and back on
Fully quit Roon Server from the macOS menu bar / task bar
Reboot your Mac
After reboot, launch Roon again and check if the devices is avaliable again.
Once these permissions are refreshed and the system restarted, your devices should reappear.
Please let us know if the issue persists after these steps, and we’ll continue from there.

I’ve done exactly what you told me. Roon and Roon Server were already enabled but I did as you wrote (toggle them off and back)
After reboot and launching roon server, I have the same error when I try to add my music on the NAS to the roon server. Here a picture of what I get as result.

To answer your question directly: yes, if you unmount the NAS volume from Finder, Roon will most likely lose access to it again.
So for now, I’d recommend treating the Finder mount as a required step rather than a one-time workaround: keep that volume mounted, and consider setting it to reconnect automatically at login (System Settings → General → Login Items → Add the NAS share as a login item, or add it to “Open at Login”). That way Roon Server will always have the volume available on startup without you needing to manually reconnect it each time.
A couple of smaller things I noticed that may be useful if you ever want to try Roon’s native connection again: a few of your address formats (e.g. entering smb://sangar or the Synology QuickConnect address directly) aren’t in a format Roon’s network share field accepts, it needs the share entered without the smb:// prefix, along with the hostname/IP, share name, and credentials in their own fields rather than as a single URI.
In the meantime, the Finder-mount approach should keep you up and running. Let us know if you run into anything else!
OK, I’ve all understood and I’ve added the NAS share as a login item.
I’m just discovering Roon via a trial period. If I go on with Roon, I will surely buy a real Roon server, and my Mac won’t be used as server, because it’s not very useful, because you have to let it always opened.
