Hi @chrispy90,
Welcome to the Roon Community! Thanks for reaching out to to us ask about this issue. Our first step of troubleshooting will be to gather some more information so we know where to focus our investigation.

  1. Do these playback interruptions happen with local content, streaming content or both?
  2. Are you having dropouts when using ARC on the same Wi-Fi network as your server?
  3. Please reproduce the issue and let us know the date and time it occurred and the song that was playing. This information will help us locate the dropout event in your logs.

Tried to download Roon arc on my Astell and kern kann max and it says unable to download because of parse? Not sure what that means. Music plays but only when I click on speakers under the Mac mini top selection bar. I have to goto Roon labs every time to bring up the player as well not sure why it isn’t in the applications folder or under files. All my Sonos speakers come up under the Roon program but not sure which is which and not sure if my Astell and kern is working correctly being plugged into the usb on the Mac. I am using the headphones out on the Mac so that might need to be plugged back into the Astell and kern and possibly resolve the speaker selection issue. The Roon programs are new to me but I really want to get everything working together because I enjoy the best sound. Thank you for your help and let me know if there is any other issues I can help you help me figure out. Thank you. Chris Peterson

Hello @chrispy90 ,

Does your Astell & Kern by any chance have a “Roon Ready” mode that you need to activate before it enters Roon mode? Roon ARC is an app more geared towards on-the-go playback, if you are trying to use the A&K with your Mac Mini at home, then you would need to use the regular Roon app to control it. If you’d like to learn more about Roon’s architecture, please see the guide below:

Hello,
I have Roon ready on my Astell and kern but have had no luck getting anything to connect or work together. I installed everything according to what was communicated to me but nothing seems to work together. All options communicated to me have had to luck on getting anything to work.
Thank you,
Chris Peterson

Hey @chrispy90,

It looks like you’re dealing with a couple of issues:

  1. You’re having trouble installing Roon ARC on your Astell & Kern (A&K) device, with a “parse error” preventing the download.
  2. Your A&K device isn’t being detected in Roon when used as a DAC over USB.

Let’s go through each one to get everything working as expected.

Installing Roon ARC on A&K: The “parse error” usually indicates a compatibility or download issue. To install Roon ARC manually, please follow these steps directly on your A&K device:

  • Go to https://roon.app/en/.
  • Navigate to the Downloads section.
  • Scroll down to the bottom to the All Roon downloads section.
  • Expand Roon ARC and download the installer for your device.

If this doesn’t resolve it, contacting A&K support may also be helpful…

Setting Up A&K as a USB DAC in Roon:

  1. Connect your A&K directly to the Mac via USB to allow Roon to recognize it as an audio output device.
  2. In Roon, go to Settings > Audio, find your A&K, and enable it.
  3. Look for the Zone Picker in the bottom right of the Roon interface, next to the volume icon.
  4. Click or tap the Zone Picker to open the list of available zones and select the zone you want to control. Once selected, playback and controls will be linked to the chosen zone.

For your Sonos speakers, you can rename each one in Audio settings to make them easier to identify.

Please give these steps a try and let us know how it goes.
