Roon combining multiple artists as one link

I have this album - http://www.allmusic.com/album/beethoven-piano-trios-mw0001350313

There are 3 artists.

The metadata in my file tags for Album Artist and Track Artist is empty.

Roon correctly identifies the album.

But, just below the title of the album, Roon displays the 3 artists as one link. I can’t click on one name alone. It treats all 3 names as one link.

Allmusic has it correctly, all 3 artists are separate.

In the file metadata I’ve tried putting al 3 names in the Album Artist field and the Track Artists field, separated by semi-colons, commas and colons. No change. I’ve removed it from my file metadata altogether and no change.

Screenshot please!

The 3 names are one link, not 2 separate links.

A full screen shot would have told us more. Is the album identified? I suspect not. That looks like an album artist from tags which are not formatted correctly.

I’ve rescanned the album after each change to the metadata.

One more question: if you go to Reidentify Album what does Roon offer you? A screen shot would be helpful.

If Allmusic has the artists correctly, what you’re displaying may mean Roon is getting multiple hits and (unfortunately) choosing one which is not Allmusic and has inferior metadata.

Only one correct album shows up in the Identification search. The one that is selected.

In the Credits page for the album in Roon, the names of the people are exactly as in Allmusic. No more and no less.

I don’t particluary care if it’s just happening with this one album.

I brought it up is that I’ve noticed it for a number of albums - all classical.

I presume it’s because many/most classical albums have more than one “performer”. Soloists, conductors, orchestras…

As I suggested above, you are using an secondary metadata source, not Allmusic/Rovi.

The item on allmusic here:

is the SECOND item on the list in Roon. Not the one you are using, which is the first.

Select the second on the list, check the tracks on the next screen, and hit Save. If the tracks are different you may need to intervene further.

Roon supports multiple artists perfectly well. Here for example is an album with three artists, like yours, but the Allmusic metadata is correctly giving three links.

You might like to look at all of these to see if you can improve the identification in the same way.

IMO it’s a bug that Roon does not always take Rovi/Allmusic metadata when there is some! For classical the difference is (as you have discovered) dramatic!

From my OP -

I have this album - AllMusic is being updated. | Music Search, Recommendations, Videos and Reviews

This is the correct album.

Not the one you linked to in Allmusic. Your allmusic link is a different album, which is, as you say, the second in the list on my screenshot. But I don’t have that one.

My album, as per the link in the OP, is the first one in the list and correctly identified.

I know. Most of my albums are fine. There are a few which are not - the one I posted about being one example.

That’s good. Presumably then you also know the next steps to fixing your problem. Good luck with it.

Thank You.
