Can you please specify what audio zones are missing? Are they affected zones connected directly to your Mac, networked or elsewhere?
Also, can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
Roon does not recognize the stereo room audio zone. Only Core and System appear.Mac-mini is wired to modem. Roon is installed on Mac-mini. DCS Rossini is wired to Mac. Roon remote is ipad pro. After rebooting the entire network:Mac,modem, etc.yesterday the stereo room audio zone reappeared, however today it did not. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.Thank you
Which zone is the stereo room zone, the DCS Rossini? Do you still see the device available via Airplay properly? It looks like you had a Sonos zone registered to your account, does that still work as expected? I would also try the Local Network setting I mentioned in my previous post if you haven’t already. Let us know if that helps.
Yes,the DCS Rossini zone. The Sonos zone does not show up as well. I’m not able to access MAC-mini settings to check Local Network;unfortunately I’ve forgotten the password. Resetting the MAC password isn’t straightforward. Please let me know if I need to figure out how to reset MAC password to solve audio zone issue. Thank you for your help.
Sounds like you were able to access your local network settings - nice work!
As a next step, I’d also check your Mac firewall settings. Make sure Roon is listed as a proper exception, here’s more info:
You can also temporarily disable your Mac firewall settings and see if your endpoints show up properly, just be sure to re-enable your firewall as it’s not a good longterm solution.
No. After MAC-mini startup audio zones do not appear. Audio zones appear only after shutting down the MAC-mini,modem,internet,phone lin e,etc then rebooting. Please advise.
Hi @Michael_Ouimette,
Let’s try to narrow down the point of failure if we can. Please try just restarting the modem and seeing if that fixes it, then just your router and so on until you’ve individually tested restarting each piece of your network chain. The results of this will tell us where the issue is coming from.
Hi Daniel,I individually deactivated first the wired MAC server connection to modem and then the Netgear router, restarting each time. The Aris SB8200 modem seems to be the point of failure. Roon through wifi shows audio zones. The modem handles internet,TV,Phone line, etc. without issues. Is there something to be done to restore network wired functions for Roon? Thank you.
Can you clarify what you’re asking here? I’m not understanding what you mean. You can simply set up a hardwire connection to your Roon devices and they’ll accept the connection. With your Mac, you have the ability to disable Wifi when connected ethernet.
Some additional information on your comment here would be helpful as well, by removing the modem, is that cutting out any ethernet-based connections?
Hi,I tested MAC ethernet connection to modem,Roon audio zones fail to appear. I did disconnect wifi using ethernet only, audio aones fail to appear. With wifi only connection,Roon audio zones appear. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know what you think.
Hello Benjamin,
I’m not sure how to answer. Am I mistaken in thinking the best Roon server performance comes from ethernet connections to modem. Historically,I’ve run Roon through ethernet connection with Wifi shut off. If Roon audio via wifi is as good as ethernet I’m satisfied. Straighten me out on this.
In most cases ethernet does offer the best performance. I think @benjamin was asking this because you said earlier that your audio work on Wi-Fi. So wi-fi would at least let you use Roon while we figure out why ethernet isn’t working.
