Roon Core and iPad fail to connect despite being on the same network (ref#6W3R5O)

Is Roon Server running?

· No, Roon Server is not running.

For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.

· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.

Describe the issue

Neither my Roon core nor my iPad can connect to Roon. Both are on same network and both will not start up. Help

Describe your network setup

Spectrum router. Orbi router

It’s asks me to log in, when I do it says that Roon is already running yet I can’t connect at all

@Seth_Oberman have you tried restarting the entire Roon stack? I had a situation yesterday where I was presented with similar looking blank screen. Restarting the Roon server, the client, and logging in, got things back to normal.

If you’re curious, you can read about what I experienced in a feature request. Maybe it’ll give you ideas on where to look for clues as to what’s going wrong.

Appreciate it but I can’t get past that screen.

Probably redundant but checking off the boxes for basic troubleshooting.

Have you verified that both Roon and RoonServer have Local Network Access permissions in Mac System Settings > Privacy & Security?

Is the Mac Firewall enabled?

Worked perfectly fine 2 days ago and for a long time before this. Puzzled. Does Roon tech support write back in these situations or is it up to me to fix ? Thx

They’ll follow-up after the weekend.

Does this support issue look similar to yours?

Hi @Seth_Oberman,

We’ve reviewed the diagnostics report from your MacBook Air, and at the moment, Roon Server appears to be running normally and playing music just fine.

Could you please confirm whether you’re still seeing the connection or any other kind of issue on the iPad or Mac ?

Thanks.

It is working now but it failed and there was no apparent clear way to fix it. There is no customer support to call or chat with and no clear reason as to what happened and why. Worked well for a very long time except for the occasional core crash ( also no idea why ). When I got the screen with the Roon trying to load, occasionally it would ask me to log in. When I did it said I had it running already. Which it wasn’t. Exceedingly confusing.

Seth

Hey @Seth_Oberman,

Thanks for the update, and I’m glad to hear things are back up and running normally!

The next time you experience an issue or crash, see if you’re able to jot down the date and time, and or the name of the track playing at the time of the issue.

From there, our team can request a diagnostic report from your Roon Server to take a closer look.

Until then, happy listening! :musical_notes::drum:

If I was able to actually launch Room in any capacity I would have written this down. Still looking for an answer as to what happened and what I should do in the future should this happen again. Thx
