Roon core keeps crashing on Mac mini

My Roon core keeps crashing, It’s been happening for a little while and with different OS/ROON versions.

macOS Monterrey 12.6
Mac mini (M1, 2020)
Chip Apple M1
Memory 16GB

Networking Gear & Setup Details

Router: Xfinity technicolor, model DPC3941T
Mac mini, connected to router via Ethernet cable
pretty simple setup, no network issues on other (streaming, etc…) services

Connected Audio Devices

Devices (crashes in any of them):

  • ropieeXL
  • schiit Modi
  • iPhone 12

Roon randomly crashes, can be as frequent as daily or several times a day. No particular patter of when it happens

Same here. macOS 12.6 on a late 2014 Mac mini. Totally unusable.

This problem was due to Sophos Home blocking packets. Now working ok for me after removing Sophos. However it would be nice if Roon handled the problem with a message rather than simply crashing out with no information.

It’s still crashing on the Mac mini so Sophos not to blame. It’s made Roon unusable :frowning_face:

A pattern I just noticed for me is that it seems to only crash when Roon is not in use (Mac idle/No Roon playback).

If possible, can you please reproduce the crash a few times, and grab the date and time of the crash and share it here? From there, we’ll enable diagnostics on your account to take a closer look.

We’d like to get a copy of the full Mac OS crash report as well, if you could please upload that here.
