Description of Issue
I am running Roon Core legacy 1.8 on both computers as I still have computers that cannot be updated the latest Roon 2.X. Attempting the Core migration from old computer to new is part of the effort towards eventually migrating to 2.X.
When I get to the step to “Restore a backup” on the Login page, it goes through the motions and appears to complete. No errors anyway. I then press the restart button and it returns me back to the Login page.
Am I supposed to then login? I expected that after the Restore, it would load up just like it did on the old computer. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
@David_Muoio, welcome to the Community. I had to migrate recently from my Mac to a Windows Core, and if I recall correctly, once I restored from my backup, I needed to login again. Once that occurred everything was ready to import my music files.
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I got working by doing the following:
On the Core on old computer, I logged out
On new computer I again went through the motions to restore from backup and restarted the core.
I had to exit and re-start the Roon UI otherwise it would not re-connect to the new core.
I logged in to the new Core and got a message that I was still logged in the old core. Odd considering I explicitly logged out on the old Core.
I pressed the “de-authorize” button (I forget actual text of button) for the old core
At that point I was now connected to the new core with all my settings intact. I only had to point to the new location of the local music files.
I am good to go now. I think the migration instructions on the Help area of web site need augmented regarding the logout/de-authorize and re-login steps.
