Hi, after long absence I am back using Roon with my DCS Rossini set up. I have a sonictransporter I7 server I am running the core from. Maybe it’s my imagination but I find Roon SQ performance to be much more pleasurable and high SQ than off my Nucleusone. That said I am trying to decide on how to set up an auto backup routine as it is not recommended to mix the sonic files with the roon back up? I don’t want to use Dropbox I have a MacMini , and various external SSD. Any thoughts on how you guys are handling this?
This is just a thing on Nucleus/ROCK where you can’t save a backup on the internal drive. And generally this makes sense because why would you want to save a backup on the same machine where you can’t get to the backup if the machine or its drive dies.
Several separate backups on different devices. I save a daily backup on an SSD attached to the ROCK, another one every 3 days to a NAS. These are automatic and hence incremental. In addition, I occasionally create a separate backup manually in its separate backup folder on the NAS, usually after I make large changes; I can give the backup folder a name that means something (the date and some note like “after xxx changes”).
In addition, an offsite backup is useful in case your place burns down.
