Roon Core on GRIMM MU2 drops Tidal tracks (ref#5FPAB6)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· I have an issue on playing Tidal tracks from Roon running on my GRIMM MU2. Most of the tracks get dropped while playing Tidal and skips to the next track. This happens on both 16/44.1 tracks and hires tracks. Hires drops even quicker typically. Playback from local files are fine.

The MU2 is a Roon Core with 8TB local drive. It is directly connected via Gigabit Ethernet to the main Router with a 1Gbps WAN link. The WAN link is robust playing high def Youtube videos never missing a beat.

The problem seems to occur only when playing Tidal via Roon.

When playing from a WiFi connected Macbook connected via Wifi, which in turn is one access point away from the main router, it plays Tidal to the MU2 all day long not missing a beat.

So it seems the problem resides inside the Roon Core.

Kindly please advise what I can do to test/fix it?

Tell us about your home network

· WAN to ISP is 1 Gbps, connected via a TP-Link AX6000 running Gigabit Ethernet only, with WiFi turned off. GRIMM MU2 is connected via GE directly to the AX6000. The rest of the network for other devices within the home is via 3 TP-Link AX3000 running Mesh inter-connected with CAT6 cables.

ISP is HK Telecom Broadband.

Some updates, with advice from GRIMM, I switched my DNS to a public DNS, it seems to have eliminated the problem. I have listened all afternoon, mostly high res tracks, so far only one hiccup

Hi @agentsmith,

Thanks for the update. Switching to a public DNS appears to have improved playback on the MU2, and it is good to hear you were able to listen most of the afternoon with only one hiccup.

Glad to hear this is moving in the right direction. We will mark this thread for closure, and enjoy the music!
