I’ve got Rock installed on a NUC as Roon core. My storage is a 2TB SSD connected via USB to the NUC. Just noticed when looking at it over the network, it seems to have duplicated the storage (see screenshot). This hasn’t happened before. I disconnected the SSD from the NUC and plugged it into my Mac and the duplicate isn’t there. When plugged back into the NUC, it appears again. Has anyone got any ideas why it’s doing this? When I view my music via Roon remote, nothing appears duplicated there.
This has been raised before. See:
I believe it is just an artifact of SMB shares as viewed on Macs resulting in a duplicate view of the same drive.
You don’t really have two drives - or even two partitions on the same drive. Further, if you navigate around the two apparent drives, then you will find that they have identical content. And if you add a file to one, you will see that it has appeared in the other.
Further, the NUC itself only sees one drive with one partition so it will not affect the operation of Roon.
Thanks @Wade_Oram I am using a fixed IP for the NUC. Just a little annoying but, as you say, it’s not impacting any performance. Just annoying having a duplicate showing when it’s just a ghost really.
Had to go nuclear to get this sorted. Ended up formatting my library drive which included all music and backups. Then reloading my library again and starting from scratch. Felt I had to do it and the duplicated storage locations had started to mess up my backups with some being on one and some on the other. Thought it was just a matter of time before more issues started creeping in.
