I am relatively new to Roon, and have been enjoying it. However, I am experiencing the issue that, every few days, the Roon core seems to get stuck adding music. The spinning blue circle in the top right remains for days if left to its own devices. I can solve the problem simply by quitting the core and restarting it. If I do that, the “add music” procedure ends in a relatively short amount of time. I have no other problems with Roon – music plays normally, and I can access Roon without problems. Is there a solution to the “add music” getting stuck, other than restarting the core every few days?
Details are:
Roon core is on an iMac (Retina 5K, Late 2014, running High Sierra, 10.13.6)
Roon core is updated to the latest build (1.5, build 339)
Music library is stored on a Synology Diskstation DS1511+, running the latest firmware
Router is a Netgear Nighthawk R8500, with the latest firmware
All connections from the core to the NAS are wired; the NAS is connected directly to the router, and the iMac is connected to a passive switch that connects directly to the router.
Thanks for contacting support, I’d be happy to take a look over this issue with you. When the Roon Core gets stuck, do you see a spinner icon in the top right-hand corner of Roon? It should look like this:
Can you please click on it and reveal a similar page to this one and post a screenshot of what you’re seeing?
Do the imported number of tracks change at all when Roon gets stuck? Please let me know when possible.
Yes, I see a spinner icon in the top right-hand corner. When I click on it, I can see that the imported number of tracks does not change at all when Roon gets stuck. A screenshot should be attached.

I have gone ahead and enabled diagnostics mode on your machine and what this action will do is next time your Core is active, a set of logs will automatically be generated and uploaded to our servers for analysis. I will be sure to let you know once I have taken a look at the diagnostics and have identified file(s) with possible issues.
I believe I have identified some directories which could be causing issues and have listed the affected directories below. While I cannot confirm exactly which of these directories are the ones causing the issues just yet, please move these directories from your watched media location and do not delete them or change them in any way, just move them outside of your watched folder for now.

After moving them, please restart your Roon Application and let me know if the import is successful.
If the import process is successful, you can begin moving the directories back one by one and please let me know with which of these directories the import process hangs again.
In looking at these folders, I think I see one common feature that might be causing the problem. Both of them have duplicate folder names that differ only by case. Specifically, there is a “Various artists” sub-folder and also a “Various Artists” subfolder. Similarly, there is a “Kind of Blue” sub-folder and also a “Kind Of Blue” sub-folder.
I’m not sure how that happened for those two folders, but I wonder if this is the issue. Should I go ahead and try cleaning this up so there are no “duplicate” folder names?

Before you correct this problem, can you please upload a few of those folders for QA to take a look at so that we can try to prevent similar behavior in the future? I will PM you instructions shortly on how to do so and after uploading those folders as examples, feel free to correct this issue as you see fit.
