Describe the issue

Roon is crashing often on Mac M1

Describe your network setup

Roon Server is running on a Windows pc, no issues here. The Server is running fine and music never stops to play. The problem is only on the ROON ''app'' client that I use on a Mac M1. The control app of Mac started to crash frequently since 1 month now.

I share below the logs of last 3 crashes:

Only a Roon user here, but as the Mac M1 is only the Roon Client/Remote, uninstall, download a fresh copy from Roon’s website and install it.

All data is on the Windows PC.

Hi @Miracle1980,

Thank you for the report. I’m afraid the links you’ve submitted require an access request - please instead submit these crash reports via our Log Uploader here, and we’ll promptly investigate.

In the meantime, the above suggestion to reinstall the GUI component of Roon - all that is housed on the M1 - is a good place to start.

  • Exit out of Roon on the Mac machine
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder

I reinstalled the application and the new folder has been created correctly.
Unfortunately after some minutes I have noticed the 1st crash/reboot of the app.

I have uploaded the logs (from this new folder) of the crash. Upload name is Miracle1980.

Thanks

P.S.
Another crash after some minutes, I have uploaded the log also for this one.

Hey @Miracle1980,

Good news! Our team was able to identify the issue, and are currently working on a solution. :raised_hands:

The fix should be released in the next Roon update or two, so we appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Thanks @benjamin, will this fix be released in day, weeks or months?

Just to know…as crashes are still happening regularly.

Thanks
