When I try to add a genre to a music selection in my library, Roon crashes. never experienced this before.

Describe your network setup

I use a 2023 MacBookPro M2 for my Roon base.no switches or range extenders, just a simple router setup.

Hi @George_Kripner,

Thank you for the report. What was the approximate timestamp of the last crash?

To confirm, you’re using the Edit function on an object (like an Album) to add a Genre to that particular object? What is the actual mechanism that causes the crash - is it hitting “Save” on the Edit dialog window?

We’ve attempted to activate logs for your RoonServer instance, but it appears to be offline. At your convenience, please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Please compress (.zip) and send the Logs folders in both the Roon and the RoonServer folder in the instructions above for MacOS, as we’ll want to investigate the crash on both server and client. If possible, please also share the crash report from the operating system itself.

From there, try resetting the GUI component of Roon:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
