Describe the issue

Roon is no longer functional after MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 Update.

Describe your network setup

I have Roon installed on a Macbook Pro M3 2024 Model.

To add a bit more information to this, I have restarted the Mac and it works for a little bit and then crashes again. I’m not seeing a Roon update to fix the issue…is there one coming or already available? I literally just got DSD features working again.

Hi @sean.belliveau ,

Thanks for reaching out. That looks like a RAATServer crash, which is strange. I suggest trying a RAATServer refresh to see if this helps.

You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

I literally did this 2 weeks ago to resolve an issue with DSD files not playing. While I agree that it’s a RAATServer crash, it just happened IMMEDIATELY after processing the 15.3.2 update so it stands to reason there is a system change in 15.3.2 that’s causing the problem.

Hi @sean.belliveau,

We appreciate your patience. Are you able to upload a copy of the crash report itself? They should be listed in Console. You can use this uploader link at your convenience.

So far, our efforts to generate a crash reproduction on the same OS and hardware have been unsuccessful, so developers are requesting some more information to pin this down:

We can see these cyclical RAATServer crash events in logs associated with your RoonServer. RAATServer and RoonServer both report a loss of network access to the loopback just before RAATServer goes down. The 15.3.0-15.3.1 updates contained more granular security that restricted third-party apps (including Roon) from accessing the local network. Users had to toggle “Local Network Access” off and on for Roon in their Privacy & Security settings. I recommend trying this step in the meantime.

I will be unable to run the additional report until the weekend. I’ve reset network access again. There was a specific security update in 15.3.2 that targets access to the internet for certain apps that may have caused this. I will see if it behaves today and if so I’ll mark it as closed…if not I’ll run the report. So far post resetting access it’s behaved.

Hi @sean.belliveau,
Were you able to run the report over the weekend?

I was not, it turned out to be a very busy weekend. There was some sort of issue with access per Apple after the update, I unblocked it and the issue has stopped. If you still need to see the report I’ll try and run it over the next day or so.

Hi @sean.belliveau,
If Roon is performing well for you now, there’s no need to run the report. You can simply mark this thread as solved. Of course, if any issues come up again, we’re happy to help!
