Description of Issue

Roon has begun crashing more and more often. It will play fine for a while and then just crash. On re-launch Sometimes it will come Back where it was but often it will load and not find my profile and prompt to load a backup. After a restart or several it will then properly load with all of my info, library, etc.
This began with a few instances and has increased and +is happening so often now that I cannot really use it, it is crashing every few songs and taking more time to relaunch than I am actually getting to listen before the next crash.

Right now it will not even let me log into Roon at all and it has an error that I have already set up another core and will not find my current install at all.

Roon worked very well for me until the upgrade and I have had MANY problems since then. I like the software but I am getting too frustrated to continue with it much longer unless this can be fixed.

Update: I unauthorized the MacBook that Roon core is on, then deleted my 2 most recent backups and restored from an older one. After reauthorizing the machine all worked well for about an hour or so then Roon quit mid song.

Can anyone from Roon offer any help please? I am still having many daily crashes. A moment ago I added a selection to my library and Roon instantly crashed and said it couldn’t find the database.
I love the software when it’s working, but have had nothing but problems since the version upgrade.

@Arnie_Sherman, a couple of thoughts from a fellow Mac user. A 63K track library may be pushing an 8 GB Mac, but not sure.

What version of Roon are you using, 1.8 or 2.0? If 2.0, is there a particular reason you have not upgraded to Ventura? Your 2019 Air supports it, and with Roon 2.0’s improved architecture, the combination of Ventura (which is what I have on my 2019 MBPro) and Roon 2.0 has resulted in no stability issues for me.

Hey @Arnie_Sherman,

Ben with the support team here, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing increased crashing on your Macbook! :-1:

I’m trying to enable diagnostics on your core to take a deeper look into potential causes, but it doesn’t seem to online. If possible could you please reproduce the issue, and then send over a set of manual logs from the MacBook?

You can use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader. Sharing the date and time of the crash would be helpful as well. Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:
