Description of Issue

Crashes after starts, I have fully uninstalled and reinstalled Roon. Performed the recommended troubleshooting steps (including shutting down the firewall )and received the same result. It started crashing today

@Jim_Wiley, have you checked that your device drivers, especially your Radeon graphics drivers, are fully up to date? Also, what version of Roon have you been running, Build 1311?

I updated my graphic drivers and roon software and received the same result…I also tried an older version as well

Are you receiving a Windows error code or some other notification when Roon crashes? How long does it run before crashing, or how does it crash and on what screen in Roon?

Did you install the stand-alone server or the combined client-server one?
It is better to use the stand-alone server exe.

Ok I had installed the client server. Then I uninstalled and installed the server only but that kept crashing as well then it restarted itself. I am not sure what is going on.

This is the last error log for the server:

Try this:

  1. From the desktop, press the Windows + X shortcut key combination.
  2. In the menu, select Command Prompt (Admin).

NOTE: System File Checker can be run from Windows PowerShell (Admin).

  1. On the User Account Control (UAC) prompt, click Yes.
  2. In the command prompt window, type SFC /scannow and press Enter.
  3. System file checker utility checks the integrity of Windows system files and repairs them if required.
  4. After the process is complete, reboot the computer.

no dice…I performed the troubleshooting as suggested. Ran virus scan, I just reset the PC (windows reset) and received the same result while trying to restore any backup below is my last log. I have tried the client/server and server only…

Weird stuff there …
Jim, did you try running the Roon Server as an Administrator?

Also, you were running a beta version of Win11 (Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635)
I suggest installing the normal Win11 (link) from scratch (not a reset but a new clean install) and try again.

well did a fresh clean install download Win 11 from the cloud plus installed without installing antivirus software or any other programs. and recieved the same result…This is very fustrating below is the same event log entry:

Update! Issue Resolved! After exhausting nearly all my troubleshooting options, I finally identified the source of the problem. I noticed unusual activity on my music NAS and couldn’t figure out what was going on since I didn’t have any devices connected to it at the time. Upon logging into my NAS, I discovered an unexpected login from my network. After some investigation, I traced it back to my new Zidoo media player, which I had acquired to replace my Zapitti for watching movies. I had initially connected the Zidoo to my NAS to test my multichannel tracks and then forgot about it.

As it turns out, the Zidoo was constantly scanning my music tracks and taking precedence over Roon, which was causing conflicts. Whenever Roon attempted to access the music files, it was being blocked by the Zidoo, resulting in crashes and other issues with the Roon software. To resolve this, I deleted the music settings from the Zidoo, and everything was back to normal with Roon. What a relief! Thanks for the assistance throughout this troubleshooting journey.
