· Hi, after a ton of issues with roon in last 48 hrs and having them mostly solved after hrs of fiddling I now have yet another issue. after finally getting to listen to music again, I'm now having roon cut out after a few minutes of playing music. I can get it going again by restarting roon but after several minutes it does the same thing. often can't even get through one song. It's happening with songs from my library and with radio playback. after two days of one issue after another and now this Ive just about had enough. In the last two days Ive spent 12 hrs resolving one problem after another. Is this related to your update from yesterday? Ive been too afraid to update fearing a crash. now can't even listen to one whole song.

· don't know the brand just a five yr old fibre optics router. Nothing wrong with my equipment these are clearly roon issues
It seems to be getting worse and worse. songs only playing for one to two mins. The icon beside the song playing on the playlist tracks shows its still playing. then after a bit that icon freezes and the play button shows stopped. press play arrow again and icon starts showing its playing but the play time counter doesn’t change.Very frustrating after 6`8 hrs of fiddling with roon today. a whole day wasted.
I had been listening to music most of the day but the cutouts started about a half hr ago. Ive seen similar cutouts in the past playing radio stations but never with library songs.
OK seems like the issue had to do with the Coleman Hawkins Qobuz 13 song double disc album (one of my favourites unfortunately. Figured Id try adding it again to my library again to see if that might fix the issue. When I went to the album to grab it I saw that the versions on both tidal and qobuz had changed and now instead of the excellent 2 disc album I had in my library all that’s offered by both is a crappy 6 song version. I guess that’s why songs from the version I had kept crashing out?
I thought that when albums become unavailable they state that in red letters beside the tracks. This disappearing album (this track is unavailable) thing has been happening a lot in the last month or so with some of my favourite albums suddenly unavailable. It’s like some thief sneaking into my house and stealing my records from my collection. I put a lot of time and effort into developing my collection, as I do with my record collection. To have them disappear is one of the worst aspects of streaming.(along with the unreliability issues). My records on the other hand stay where Ive left them.
on a more positive note, Ive now downloaded the much feared new update with no issues (yet). Job done I guess,
Thanks for laying out the sequence of events so clearly. The disappearing-track behavior you found with that Coleman Hawkins album is a strong clue, and it does sound like the playback issue may be tied to that specific album version changing in Qobuz and TIDAL rather than a general playback failure. It’s good to hear the update installed cleanly on your end, please let us know how it’s performing after testing the new build for a bit longer.
Aha! Those scoundrels at qobuz and Tidal have actually split the older (excellent) Hawkins 2 disc album into two separate albums. I grabbed them both so now I have all the same songs as before now spread over two different albums.
The thing is , that original double album was hands down the most naturally and realistic recorded album in my whole 5000 album collection. musicians were right there in front of me spread across a huge and natural soundstage with lots of depth and spot on real tone and harmonics. Listening to that album on either my Mark Levinson, Magnapan, REL system or on my Altec 19, SET 300B amp was spooky real. So was slightly disappointed to hear that the newer released versions, although still very good, are clearly not as good sonically as that original. Sigh. Can’t explain why as they are clearly the same recording and are the same resolution and they don’t claim to be remasters or anything. Go figure. Happy to have them back though.
It does still puzzle me as to why I still have access in my library to that original beloved version, even though its not listed as an option on either tidal or qobuz. All the tracks show and play as available but songs cut out midway through the track. First time Ive seen that as usually tracks that are on albums that disappear from tidal/qobuz or albums that have been changed in some way, as in this case, show up with tracks showing the red lettered message besides them saying this track is unavailable. odd….
As for the new roon update, so far, other than that apple networked devices connectivity issue, it seems to work fine. Don’t see it as being any better than the older roon version though. I could care less about viewing my library randomly ordered.
