Tell us what's going on

· I run my Roon on an iMac (MacOS: Sequoia 15.7.4) . Recently, it dropped out unexpectedly. I tried to reinstall using the latest version downloaded from Roon Labs repeatedly, but all failed. It just disappeared after I clicked the FINISH button. While the Roon server status showed running. Here are what I have done :

Run Roon and when it came to "Add you music", I clicked "Contiue", and then "Set up your Audio devices" I clicked "finish", then the next screen appeared only 1 second with No audo devices found and Manage audio devices showed in the bottom.

After above have done, Roon disappeared and could not be found. Have checked Roon Server Status : Running

Your kind assistance would be appreciated. Thank you !

Hello @Spencer_Ma ,

Welcome to the forum! According to our diagnostics, it looks like your RoonServer (in your taskbar) is still up-and-running, but the Roon UI app may not be. When you try to open the Roon app what is the exact sequence of startup you see, does the Roon app crash? We’ve enabled diagnostics for your account, if you can try to open the app again, there may be some clues in the logging.

Hi Noris, thanks for your reply.

I have tried to re-open Roon again, and the sequence is just the same as shown in the previous attached pictures. The result was the same when I clicked “finish”, it just disappeared again and Roon server status showed “running”. Please assist and thanks again.

Hi Noris, I still could not get my Roon installed properly, the problem remained exactly the same.

I am thinking of cleaning up all Roon related files from the iMac and try to set up Roon again. Then I will use a back-up file saved in USB disc together with my music files.

Please advise what are the necessary steps I should take. Thank you !

Hi @Spencer_Ma,

Please also ensure that you’ve toggled local network access on for Roon in your Privacy & Security settings under Local Network. Sometimes, MacOS Sequoia will sever RAATServer and/or Roon’s network access.

Do you have any third-party security software on this machine?

If you want to try a deep reinstall of the database, you’ll want to first ensure that you’ve created a Backup so you don’t lose your library and settings customizations in Roon.

From there, try deleting the GUI itself but keeping the server intact.

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon” and delete it
  • Ignore the RoonServer folder (this houses you database)
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder

Now connect to the server you’ve already installed.

Let us know if this helps.

If not, repeat those steps but delete the RoonServer folder instead. Reinstalling the app will then create a fresh database; you can restore your backup from there, too.

Hi Connor, many thanks for your guidance. According to your detailed advice, I have successfully reinstalled Roon and it is back to normal now. Really appreciate your kind help and assistance. Thanks again !
