Description of Issue

Until 2 weeks ago all working fine
Today the Laptop regularly connect to Roon core, but NO audio devices on the laptop are listed.
I tried to reinstall roon on Laptop, no change
I stopped Antivirus on both devices no change

All I can see both on NUC and Laptop are Audio Devices connected to the Roon Core PC, nothing on the Laptop

Roon now is useless for me… how cna I solve the issue?
Thanks

Did you try stopping the firewall?

Hello @Davide_Ricci and welcome to the Roon community

We’re sorry to hear about the trouble and we’d love to help.

I wonder if I understand things correctly. With Roon, all audio devices need to be connected to the Roon Core (in your case, the NUC) - when using remote devices, you can select these audio endpoints as Zones. You probably know this.

You mentioned audio devices not showing up on the laptop you use as a Roon Remote. What about other remotes? Can you select the audio devices as zones and stream music from a different remote device (a PC, a smart phone, a tablet)?

Dear Rebeka,
thank you for your reply.
I must be doing something wrong.
Here is what I would like to do:

  1. I have my music library on Hard Disk on my NUC where I have installed Roon Core
  2. I have my Laptop connected via USB to my DAC and would like to stream via Roon on Laptop to the DAC my music library
I believe (but now I have doubts) that I was doing so before with Roon and now I cannot
How can I achieve my goal?
    Thanks

Davide

Does your laptop run Windows ? If so updated to Windows have a habit of changing firewall settings. These often block Roon. To see if it’s the issue temporarily turn of your firewall to see if it helps. If it does then ensure Roon.exe and RAATserver are allowed through.

Also restarting your network gear is always a good start to rule out if something has gone awry there.

Dear all, thank so much for you on-point help: an update has changed the firewall settings on the LAptop. I opened up to Roon and now all is fine!!
GREAT
Thank you all for the super prompt help
I go back listening music…
Best
Davide
