Describe the issue

I have disconnected pc from NAS storage for a few weeks and on reconnectiong Roon, it sees the NAS folder but no albums are listed. I am not sure if Roon is rescanning as it shows a flashing symbol but would assume albums would appear gradually and after 1 day still nothing. Any thoughts?

Describe your network setup

Home network set up with Draytek router, PC (not laptop) using Windows and also have Naim Atom HE which was also linked to Roon

Hello @Marc_Lawson ,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your message. Not seeing any albums and no audio devices can be a symptom of library corruption. I would try to see if you are able to create a new Roon backup from the PC, as Roon performs a database check when creating the backup. Then, you can try to perform a reinstall of Roon and restore the backup, please give this a try:

Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
  • Restore backup

Here is the process outlined from a Windows machine:

All Roon_old on Windows

Hi Noris. I have tried that but PC says all 3 files to rename are in use, but not sure by what. I have turned off Pc and restarted so no PC programs open?

But Roon is running…

Not sure how Roon is running or what it is doing
I did originally ask for a rescan when setting the network up again but that was days ago.
Would it take that long to rescan c.7000 albums.
If not how do I reload the Roon app and how do I check what it is doing?

Hi @Marc_Lawson,

Can you check in task manager is Roon is running? The default Roon configuration has it launch on start up. You’ll need to quit Roon from the task bar. Right click on the Roon icon and click “Quit”.

No Roon not showing in task manager. I can rename Roon file but not Roon Server which says
folder or file in use. I am wondering if my instruction to rescan when relaunching a week or so ago
is somehow still trying to be acted on but there is a problem with NAS (Buffalo)?

Hey @Marc_Lawson,

Are you able to open Roon in that case? Using this video, see if you can select ‘Open Roon’ rather than ‘Quit’

Do you have any recent backups available? It may be worth restoring from a saved backup if possible. Here’s more info on that:
