Describe your network setup

I have multiple entries in the genre tag, separated by semicolons. Semicolon is defined as a separator in the import settings. But roon does not recognize the separators and displays the entire string as a genre.

Hmm - I’ve just used Mp3Tag to add two Genre tags (separated by semicolons) to this local album as a test, and Roon has added them as individual tags. Roon had the Genre as International, and I added the tags Indian Subcontinent Traditions and Indian. Now Roon shows all three…

Here’s the Mp3Tag screen:

And the tags are also read correctly in the dBpoweramp editor:

I have narrowed down the problem further. MP3, files, and FLAC files work without any problems. The problem occurs with M4A (Low Complexity AAC). Here, in addition to the individual genres, the composite string is also displayed as the genre.

Good day @armin1 !

Thanks for narrowing down the issue.

Would that be possible for you to share with us a screenshot of the issue as you see it on your side and also upload the modified album to our media storage here:

. So we can reproduce and identify the issue ?

Thanks!

Looking forward to your reply!

Hello @armin1 ,

This thread is due to close in a few days, we wanted to check in with you to see if you’ve had a chance to look over @alex_h ‘s instructions? Please let us know when you can so that we can continue troubleshooting here, thanks!

Just uploaded!

Hello @armin1

Thank you for the files uploaded. We have tried to reproduce the issue locally and didn’t receive the same results as you have on your end.

Would you kindly move the album from the watched folders, then run the library cleanup Roon → Settings → Library → Clean up Library.

Make a screenshot of the Genres tab, move the album back to the watched folder, and let us know the result.

Hi @armin1,

To continue troubleshooting, please let us know the results of the test in @vadim’s post above. Without any further response, this thread will close due to inactivity. Thanks!

Unfortunately this has not fixed the problem with the m4a audio files. Flac and mp3 works but m4a files still show the
concatenated genre

Hello @armin1

Thank you for the update.

Do you have a screenshot after the library cleanup, as was requested earlier?

Would you kindly try to tag the files with Mp3Tag or the MusicBrainz Picard application, and make the same steps with the library cleanup?
