Roon does not see new Tidal albums

I opened a support ticket but I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue:

  • new albums not seen by Roon. I am looking for some albums that had pre-release tracks released as singles. Roon knows that these are from the album because they are found by a search for album name. But the full album is not found and not listed in the band discography.
  • I’ve seen this happening repeatedly, most recent (and most frustrating one) is the new Snarky Puppy album Somni:
  • Here’s what Roon finds when I search for the album:

Ans here’s the full album in Tidal:

I did refresh the Tidal library twice, nothing. Any idea if this is a bug or can I do something to solve this?

I’ve had this problem for weeks! I just added two albums in Tidal, then went to Roon to look for them, and, poof! they’re not there.

Needless to say, this is a big issue.

This is how Roon works, the new albums released on a Friday take a day or so to show via Roon.

Roon syncs metadata with Tidal on some frequency (daily 06:00 ??) so it takes little while

Look again in the morning

Our “New Music Friday” build failed last night due to an infrastructure issue. This is very unusual and we’re investigating why.

We’ve re-started it and the ETA is currently around 8pm UTC today, as long as there are no more issues.

It does appear that we’re not getting as much advance metadata from TIDAL as we used to. We’re investigating that too. It might be a policy change on TIDAL’s or the labels’ part.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

come on guys, bring in the Puppy!

What happens if you favorite the album in the Tidal app? And then resync Tidal in the Roon settings. Does the album show up then?

No, the metadata for the album need to be in our Cloud database first.

Ah. Learned something new

No need to get snarky about it :face_with_peeking_eye:

Once the metadata arrives in the Cloud, you can of course re-sync manually without having to do anything in the streaming service app.

Surely it’s Tidal’s part as I’m guessing Qobuz use the same labels :man_shrugging:

It remains to be seen that it’s a policy change.

Tidal integration has been sloppy for months. Today, no new releases are showing in Roon. Even if I go to the Tidal app and add a new release, it doesn’t show up in Roon. I’m finding I’m spending more time using Spotify these days because of the ongoing Tidal integration problems in Roon. Disappointing.

Update: it will be more like 9pm UTC for the new data.

Please note also that our search service won’t have the new data indexed for several hours after that.

This is, sincerely, one of my favorite posts ever on this forum.

I had no idea you had a “New Music Friday” build and that makes me so happy. I’m also so grateful that you showed up here to talk about the build issue, @joel. This kind of engagement and transparency from Roon is so fantastic for the product and the company. I know you can’t make it a daily habit but every time you show up here and help this community of Roon enthusiasts better understand how the product works and give us the sense that the team is listening, it’s a massive uplift to the culture and content of this forum. Thank you for that!

Not seeing new releases has been a long-standing frustration of mine. It’s really great to understand that you guys take this scenario seriously and actually dedicate a build process to it.

So, on all counts, thank you!!!

Here is another example of a very important Beatles album ontologically

To be fair, New Music Friday is a music industry thing. Our NMF build is basically our Thursday night metadata build which is deployed on a Friday morning…normally. But it’s obviously important, because the majority of new releases do come out on a Friday these days. Consequently, we do give it (and our Friday night and IIRC our Saturday night builds) special treatment in terms of paying for more expensive non-preemptable (i.e. we don’t get booted off machines) Cloud computing resource.

The Puppy is in from the cold, thank you Roon

My experience in the last few weeks is that Friday releases are not showing up in Roon until sometimes 24 hours later. This is unacceptable.

Tidal seems to be having problems at the moment, but Roon needs to figure this out. This album came out yesterday. I can see it in Roon search now, but I can’t add it. Disappointing.
