I opened a support ticket but I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue:
new albums not seen by Roon. I am looking for some albums that had pre-release tracks released as singles. Roon knows that these are from the album because they are found by a search for album name. But the full album is not found and not listed in the band discography.
I’ve seen this happening repeatedly, most recent (and most frustrating one) is the new Snarky Puppy album Somni:
Here’s what Roon finds when I search for the album:
Our “New Music Friday” build failed last night due to an infrastructure issue. This is very unusual and we’re investigating why.
We’ve re-started it and the ETA is currently around 8pm UTC today, as long as there are no more issues.
It does appear that we’re not getting as much advance metadata from TIDAL as we used to. We’re investigating that too. It might be a policy change on TIDAL’s or the labels’ part.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
Tidal integration has been sloppy for months. Today, no new releases are showing in Roon. Even if I go to the Tidal app and add a new release, it doesn’t show up in Roon. I’m finding I’m spending more time using Spotify these days because of the ongoing Tidal integration problems in Roon. Disappointing.
This is, sincerely, one of my favorite posts ever on this forum.
I had no idea you had a “New Music Friday” build and that makes me so happy. I’m also so grateful that you showed up here to talk about the build issue, @joel. This kind of engagement and transparency from Roon is so fantastic for the product and the company. I know you can’t make it a daily habit but every time you show up here and help this community of Roon enthusiasts better understand how the product works and give us the sense that the team is listening, it’s a massive uplift to the culture and content of this forum. Thank you for that!
Not seeing new releases has been a long-standing frustration of mine. It’s really great to understand that you guys take this scenario seriously and actually dedicate a build process to it.
To be fair, New Music Friday is a music industry thing. Our NMF build is basically our Thursday night metadata build which is deployed on a Friday morning…normally. But it’s obviously important, because the majority of new releases do come out on a Friday these days. Consequently, we do give it (and our Friday night and IIRC our Saturday night builds) special treatment in terms of paying for more expensive non-preemptable (i.e. we don’t get booted off machines) Cloud computing resource.
My experience in the last few weeks is that Friday releases are not showing up in Roon until sometimes 24 hours later. This is unacceptable.
Tidal seems to be having problems at the moment, but Roon needs to figure this out. This album came out yesterday. I can see it in Roon search now, but I can’t add it. Disappointing.
