Roon does not show any audio outputs

Hello,

I wanted to test Roon but there are problems.

Setup is Pc with windows 10 on it as core.
Singxer Su 2 which is connected via I2S to the Singxer Sda 2.
Driver is the one from Singxer and the current 5.12.

The software was installed properly.
When I log in to Tidal and want to play my playlist, Roon tells me no audio devices detected and I should select some.
When I click on Settings and then Audio, I just get a black screen.
I can’t assign a dac to Roon, neither the Su2 nor the Sda2.

On the PC under Settings Audio I have clearly defined that the audio output is the Su 2.
Everything seems to be OK in the firewall.

I don’t know what to do, does anyone have a tip on what the problem could be?
Why Roon does not recognise my audio devices.

How do you connect your SU2 to the core? USB only?

Hello,
Yes with Usb connected to the Pc the Su2 is its only input.
Pc = core >> Usb singxer >> I2S Sda2

Stop Roon, disconnect your device, uninstall any specific driver that came with the unit. Plug it back in and it should show up under Windows ‘Sounds’ as USB Audio device

Then got to ‘properties’, uncheck the ‘supported format’ boxes

Go to ‘Advanced’ and check ‘exclusive mode’ both boxes, for testing purposes select a common value for playback like in the following pic and run ‘Test’

If it plays a sound, Win10 audio and your devices including cables work and you need to focus on Roon.
With that cleared up, you can go and fire up Roon again and take it from there.

If not there could be a hardware problem with your devices or they need a specific WASAPI driver from the manufacturer that you can install. Run the whole test series again and see what you get.

Hello Klaus,
Thanks for your help.
I tried your method and did not have any success.
I can’t connect my ipad to the pc either, it has recognised it and I can change something in the audio settings, but the ipad doesn’t connect to the pc.
This was also the first time that anything was found in Roon under audio.

Everything else remains unchanged: no Dac, neither the Su2 recognised.

When I press play, Roon says no audio device detected, not even with the Ipad (because the Ipad does not connect to the Core).
I have checked the Windows Firewall settings and everything seems to be OK there and have not changed anything.

Let me see if I get this right:
You have a win10 PC
You removed the Roon software
You connected your devices directly to the PC
your Win 10 recognized the devices as usb audio interface
You could make settings
Did play a sound?
If not there is a chance of a hardware issue with your devices or a misconfiguration of your device settings.
Can yo connect the DAC directly?

As to the iPad
Did you install the Roon app on the iPad?
Is your core and your IPad on the same network, means in the Sam IP address range?
More general
Did you follow the instructions for installation and setup by the dot?

Hello Klaus,
Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, that is correct.
After Windows reinstalled the Dac, it could also play a sound.
And everything was fine even when I open Youtube with the browser there was a sound.
I followed all your instructions.
And unfortunately had no success.

With the Ipad I didn’t check if it has the same Ip address.Roon has configured one on the Pc itself I saw.
I would have to check if they share the same ip.

What if you try some earlier v. 4.X.0 drivers?
For tests with Roon I would connect SDA 2 to PC directly, without using SU.

Make screenshot of “Audio” section in Roon settings. Are there any other PC built-in audio devices, “System Output” or something?

Hello,
I also tried an older version of the usb driver that I still had on the 4.80 computer and it failed.

And here is a screenshot of the audio settings.
As you can see, everything remains as it is, and the audio management button does nothing when you click on it.

In the meantime, it also rejected the Ipad that was briefly visible in the audio settings yesterday, but did not want to connect.

This is really a lot of trouble for me only if you want to test Roon.
All the good things I have read and heard about it are a disappointment for me at the moment.

Yes, something is wrong. I’m sure there must be at least built-in devices there.
Do you have other PC to install Roon for tests?
Try to reninstal Roon. Or try to install Roon Server package first.
Let’s ask @support for help.

Got to the settings page, scroll to the ‘About’ button, click it and take screenshots of what is there (or not).
Something is really screwed up. Tend to think corrupted installation or firewall interference.

I never had issues with installing Roon core or Roon apps on the peripheral devices. On the first install, you really need to watch for Win10 firewall warnings and allow Roon. If you don’t do that Roon will not run. Even when you reinstall Roon I believe Win10 will remember the FW setting and you are again locked out. Maybe you know all of that, but I don’t know what you know. Hang in there.

Hello @anon78047293 ,

I’ve moved your post over to the #support category, in the future, please ensure that you post to this category if you need technical support.

Seeing no audio devices like that is indicative of a firewall or database issue. Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

If you have checked this and the behavior is still the same, you can perform a fresh reinstall of Roon by using the following instructions:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder

Please let us know if either of these suggestions help resolve the issue, thank you!

i had same problem with you before.
and then i also used DARK theme.
oneday i changed to WRITE theme, the audio device appear on the list!!

try it.
