Roon server is Rockna WLS. Feeding Audio-GD R8 MK2 dac with Amanero combo384 interface that is able to handle native dsd, but I do not get the option in setup to choose native. For some strange reason I can choose ‘initial dCS’ which I think only works on dCS dac’s, which are few and far between.
Why does Roon not offer ‘native’ ??
I know the A-GD dac accepts native dsd because before I got the Rockns WLS I used a Nucleus usb out> Matrix Audio xspdif3 I2S out> A-GD dac and was offered the ‘native’ option.
Please just offer the ‘native’ option. If it doesn’t work (I’m sure it will) I will revert to DoP.
Your Roon server runs a custom Linux kernel, and Linux (and macOS) do not support native DSP if drivers are unavailable, i.e., not in the kernel. It would have been the same with the Nucleus, since the only drivers supplied are for Windows.
You may use DoP up to DSD256, which is identical to native DSD. DSD512 isn’t possible on Linux or macOS.
I can get up to DSD512 from my Mac but I use an opticalRendu. Are you referring to a direct connection perhaps?
