Roon don't watch network share folder on NAS for changes

Hi all, Since Roon eats up CPU, I decided to move Roon Server to my Mac Mini and keep the music files on my NAS. However, when I add new albums or make changes, Roon doesn’t pick up the changes. Is there a way to fix this?

This is because the NAS isn’t providing reliable file change notifications. This could be a configuration issue on the NAS or possibly disks offline when Roon performs maintenance.

I believe that this can be associated with the behavior of the NAS.

Sometimes, the SMB client (in this case the Roon Server), is not notified by the NAS when there are changes to the content of a folder. Thus, other than by continuously reading the folder content and comparing with the previous time read (which is an undesirable activity), there is no way for the client to know.

If your NAS is running a fairly conventional linux OS or is a Synology or QNAP device, you may be able to modifiy the NAS configuration to help. See the article at:
