Roon downsampling Qobuz on Samsung tablet with Fosi DS2 USB DAC (ref#EPSC1Y)

Describe the issue

Looking for suggestions on why Roon is downsampling my Qobuz streaming on my Samsung tablet. I have a Fosi DS2 USB DAC, which per the specs should handle audio up to 192/24. When I stream via the Qobuz app on the tablet, the indicator color on the Fosi DAC does change colors to indicate a higher sampling rate, however Roon app is always down sampling to >48khz. The only other possibility I could think would be internet. Also the sampling slider is off on the audio settings for the device. Thank you.

TP Link router, 5ghz connection, 100mps internet

Android’s standard driver only supports 48, no matter what an attached DAC supports, that’s why Roon downsamples. Roon ARC has its own driver that you can enable in the ARC app (but it is beta and does not work with all DACs or on all mobile devices), but the regular Roon app doesn’t have this. You can try changing settings like explained here:

Thank you, that makes sense to me, but do you know why the Fosi indicator light is displaying a higher frequency rate using the Qobuz app than the Roon app?

I can’t tell by my ears to be honest, but I believe the DAC must be receiving a higher frequency rate from the Qobuz app, or the DAC is faulty.

I understand that neither the dac/Qobuz app/or tablet are Roon products!

No idea, sorry. I believe that some apps come with their own driver and that’s why they can achieve higher resolutions, but I don’t know if this is the case for the Qobuz app. (I would have thought that it isn’t the case, but not sure)

Thanks–I can’t really tell the difference to my ears, so as the best advice goes, “just enjoy the music.”
