Describe the issue

Good evening.

I just transferred my Roon core from a 2012 Mac Mini Intel i7 to a new 2024 Mac Mini M4 Pro with 10GbE (connected to my network at 2.5GbE). Unfortunately, I'm not able to see any Roon endpoints on my network, and I'm wondering what simple aspect I'm overlooking.

My main system is down at the moment, so I'm testing with the Roon endpoint implemented in the 2021 Bluesound Node n130 of my bedroom system, as well as an old Sonore microRendu 1.3 that I brought out of retirement for debugging (no DAC attached at the moment). I have a full Unifi network stack with all audio devices connected via hardlines and WiFi disabled, but that hasn't changed. Audio device IP addresses are static or DHCP reservations. I can ping both Roon endpoint devices successfully from the new Mac Mini, so it doesn't seem to be a simple network issue like a subnet mask mismatch or similar. (Additionally, Roon is seeing my music library just fine, as housed on a Synology NAS and mounted via SMB.) Besides the hardware, the Mac OS was the only other major change, moving from Catalina 10.15.7 on the 2012 Mini to Sequoia 15.1 on the 2024 Mini, but since Roon is otherwise running fine, I don't see how that could be a factor.

Note that I do use a VPN on my home network as implemented on my Unifi Dream Machine Pro (either ExpressVPN via OpenVPN config files or ProtonVPN via WireGuard config files), but I tried turning it off briefly and refreshing my audio device list, in case there was some odd license server access issue or similar, but it made no difference. All devices have current firmware and software, except the Sonore, which is one revision out of date. I do have multicast filtering enabled, but all devices are on the same default network (no VLANs). Again, this is unchanged from when things were working with the 2012 Mac Mini.

Any ideas as to what the Mac Mini M4 Pro doesn’t like about my Roon endpoints? Thank you!

Describe your network setup

Mentioned above, but Unifi UDMPro router, USW Aggregation, USW Pro Max 24 PoE, USW Enterprise 8 POE. Internet via Comcast into Unifi UCI. (Unifi WAPs not listed, because all devices under discussion are hardwired.)

Try this, it usually helps:

Well, look at that… didn’t even have to reboot! I had Roon, Roon Server, and HQPlayer all turned on, but turning them off, then on again, suddenly popped up a pile of devices on my network as options. (I had no idea how many devices supported Airplay!)

Interesting that it was an issue given that this is a fresh set of OS and Roon installs. I don’t see my uRendu still, but it’s possible that its software is old enough to be an issue. (Especially since the Roon Ready diagnostic fails to complete.) I’ll eventually update it, but it’s not critical at the moment.

Thanks for the tip!
