Roon endpoints unable to connect to existing server (ref#RMC5KI)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· Roon endpoints no longer working with existing Roon server

Tell us about your home network

· Roon core server is an Audiostore Prestige 2TB server running Roon Server version 2.70 (build 1671). It is connected via a Cat6 wired network via a Mac mini m1 to our old Naim Dac-V1 (new in 2012), Naim Nap140 power amp and PMC wall mounted speakers. With Roon Remote running on the Mac mini, it performs flawlessly.

The same server is connected via Ethernet and fibre optic to a Sonore OpticalRendu then out to a Chord M Scaler, Chord DAVE dac and then to a high end hifi. I can see the server and the opticalrendu on the network via the sonicorbiter app. The opticalrendu is running Roon Ready 1.1.47, yet no matter what I do, I can’t see it as an audio zone on the Roon control app on either my iPad (Roon 2.70 build 1673) or on my iPhone.

The same server is connected over wifi to our old Naim Mu-so Qb 1st generation (new in 2016). The Roon control app on either my iPad or the iPhone can see the Mu-so Qb and I can select it as an audio zone, both directly as a Roon ready endpoint and also as a device via airplay2. However, I can’t play any music through it.

In summary, I can’t play music via the DAC-V1 but not on the main hifi or the Mu-so Qb. I suspect it’s an issue arising from one or more software updates, rather than being an issue of faulty hardware but really need help to get either the Mu-so Qb or the main hifi to connect again.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Best regards, Ian K.

I don’t know what’s going on but are you sure you see the Qb v1 as Roon Ready?

This sticks out as being strange because the Qb v1 is not Roon Ready, just Roon Tested. Only the v2 is Roon Ready. Compare:

Are, you are correct. I try to connect it via apple airplay. Roon can see it via airplay but no music comes out of it.

Hi @foottapper,

Thanks for the clarification. Since you are connecting the Mu-so Qb v1 via AirPlay, please try to navigate to Device Setup by right-clicking the zone name in the bottom right of Roon, then toggle AirPlay Compatibility mode on for that device. Please let us know whether that changes anything.

The Naim DAC-V1 is readily identified when I run Roon Bridge on the Mac mini and plays music via Roon perfectly.

With the Naim Mu-so Qb 1st generation, the Roon app can see it as an end point or zone but I can’t get any music out of it via Roon, even when I go into zone settings and enable compatibility mode.

The Mu-so is only connected to the network over WiFi. Do I need to but some sort of Roon compatible, WiFi enabled receiver to plug into the Qb via USB or the Ethernet port?

All help very much appreciated.

Well, I deleted the “Focal & Naim” app from my phone and tablet, then reinstalled it.

It then found the Qb. Now I can play music through the Qb using Roon again.

Mystifying.

All zones now back up and running again.

Thank you to those who replied.

Best regards, FT
