I use an Eversolo T8 as a Roon endpoint. Roon converts 768 kHz music to 384 kHz. The maximum sampling frequency (PCM) in the device settings menu is also 384 kHz. Why?

Maybe because the connected DAC is not capable of higher sampling rates?
Or the Eversolo is missing specific drivers for the DAC to support more than what the USB standard (USB Audio Class 2) already has to offer (so called “driver-less” support).
Or the DAC is using a connection that doesn’t support more by design.
Or, because the device is built in a way that tracking the currently used output(s) and their current capabilities is not possible, a compromise had to be found.
Please ask Eversolo directly if you want a definitive answer (which may not be satisfying though).
But it is suitable. The connected DAC is a Musician Pegasus. Eversolo plays 768 kHz with its own player program, only Roon converts
So plays as in reads such a source file then. Not sends so much data actually to the DAC.
Does your DAC show you its input sample rate? How is your DAC connected to the streamer?
PS: Roon can also play (as in read) 768 kHz sources (or it wouldn’t be able to convert).
Only because it could not negotiate a higher sample rate with the endpoint (for some reason). Please ask Eversolo for the reason.
And from there:
Proprietary USB Audio Solution via STM32F446 Advanced AMR Based MCU
Licensed Thesycon USB Driver For Windows Platform
Driverless On Mac & Linux
And again: Driver-less support (UAC2) ends at 384 kHz. A device specific driver is needed for more.
PS: IIRC are the Eversolo streamers Android based, which in turn is based on Linux but may still make it hard (or even impossible?) for device manufacturers to ship patched kernels/drivers.
Searching the forum for „Eversolo kHz“ (without the quotes) will bring up similar older threads, such as this:
Well thats just bollocks….awaiting my preordered unit…might have to relegate it to Spotify duty for the wife
It’s not 320K Ogg Vorbis lossless Spotify level, it’s 384 kHz which more than 8 x CD resolution of 44.1 kHz and is 8 x DVD resolution of 48 kHz
The numbers all merge to look similar
Hey @Gabor_Korodi , have you made a comparison for sound quality between the T8 via Roon or its own app?
Hi Alessandro!
Yes, I like Roon better when playing my own files and I also like Roon better than Tidal connect.
