Welcome to the forum. Please tell us on which kind of computer you have installed Roon and what you are using as the output (local USB, network streamers, etc.). It would also help to know how everything is connected to the network.

This will help Roon’s support staff to help you efficiently when they come back next week, or perhaps any experienced users on the forum before that.

Did you have a read through this help guide?

Hey @drspaddocklane, welcome to the community, and thanks for posting.

From what you shared, it sounds like Roon Server is not starting on your machine, so we need to identify what it is installed on and how it is supposed to run.

To get a clearer picture, could you tell us:

 • What device you installed Roon on, for example Windows, Mac, Linux, Nucleus, or a NAS
 • Whether you are trying to use a local audio device like USB, or a network player such as a WiFi speaker or streamer
 • How that device is connected to your network, especially if it is on WiFi or Ethernet
 • What you see when you try to start Roon Server, does it fail to open, disappear, or show any message
If you are using a RoonOS device, the RoonOS web administration interface can also help us check whether the server service is stopped or whether the device itself needs attention.

Reply with those details and we can take the next step from there. :+1:

Hey @drspaddocklane,

Wanted to follow up on this. Have you had a chance to tell us what device Roon Server is installed on, whether you are using a local USB output or a network player, and how that machine is connected to the network? If it is a RoonOS device, we can also use the RoonOS web administration interface to check whether the server service is stopped or if the device itself needs attention, so let us know what you see when you try to start it.

Please note, if we don’t hear back from you this thread may close automatically soon. If the thread auto-closes and you need further assistance, please submit a reopen support request via the technical support help form below and specify that the issue should be reopened. Thank you.
