· Just did the latest Roon update and now Roon will not run at all. I have gone through all of the steps mentioned in the forum and the help page but nothing works. I’m running Mac OS 12.7.6 on an Intel Mac. Everything was working perfectly this morning until I did the update.

Thanks for reaching out. This is a known issue, and we just released a hotfix for it.

Please update Roon to the latest version to resolve this. If you can’t launch Roon at all, you can install the latest version on top from our downloads page:

Hi Noris,
I tried your hotfix download and reinstall. two times now. Roon will launch now but neither of the downloads will allow me to play music. Roon sees my Dac but the play button will not initiate play. After 10 seconds or so a message comes up stating “Too many failures, stopping playback”

There appear to be multiple overlapping instances of RoonServer on this machine active simultaneously, running different builds.

RAATServer is probably still tied up with Apple’s coreaudio on the old build.

Do you have a Backup of your Roon database available?

The most immediate solution is to take the following steps:

  • Make a Backup of your current RoonServer Database
  • Exit out of RoonServer
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Delete the RoonServer folder. If there are two, delete them both.
  • Reinstall the RoonServer App from our Downloads Page to generate a new RoonServer folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

Then, restore your Backup.

Make sure you retoggled local network permissions for Roon in MacOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local network.
