So I was a pretty happy listener with a couple of Terabytes of music that I had ripped from CD over the years. I used J River for my “Class A’” listening nights and Spotify for background or trying out new stuff. My Audio System is a nice little Asus Vivo PC with HDMI or USB into a NAD M51 DAC and then onwards to whatever amplifier I am playing with :-).
So I just had to have TIDAL and it is great, nice layout sounds good so I thought well I better try Roon . I was determined to not use my Hard Drives , my music files were all Lossless WMA files anyway, I would just get into streaming …seamlessly , maintenance free, but It irked me on Roon that the radio feature didn’t work with just TIDAL as my source and I really liked the User Interface on Roon and all the information and the sound quality was very good… So…over the weekend I copied all my files to another Drive but converted to FLAC as they went over. I made the FLAC folder on this new Drive an "ORGANISED By ROON " folder rather than simply watched. Then I opened up Roon .
Well…what an amazing job it did of cleaning up and organising 10 years of me adding music to my collection. I have many versions of many Piano Sonatas , heaps of obscure blues and country , very old Jazz recordings and because I live downunder quite obscure NZ artists etc. I love it. Very rationally sorted and as I say a beautiful graphical user interface, and fast!
Thank you. I really hope you guys don’t fall into the trap of trying to please every possible whim of every demanding user thus ending up with a complex, bloated, option laden beast . I really appreciate the elegance and intelligence of the Roon software that you have developed . I wish you well.
