More details and why I care. I usually peruse my albums based on date added. I.e. I buy some new CDs, rip them, then want to listen to them via Roon. But frequently I end up with a mess in which my old compilations show as just added, because Roon somehow forgets about them and then re-discovers them, putting them as the newest.
Compilations are created by Apple/music / itunes when I rip CDs and are in the directory structure with my non-compilations. So not sure what is confusing Roon. Thanks.

Hi @Peter_Galvin1,
Thanks for writing in to ask us about this issue. This sounds like Roon has a shaky connection to the watched folder you have set up. Can you provide a screenshot of you Audio settings page under Roon settings → Audio?
Thoughts? Need other configuration details?
Our apologies @Peter_Galvin1,
We’re looking for a screenshot of your Roon Settings>Storage to verify Roon still has proper access to your local content. From a recent diagnostic, we see error messages FileNotFound
when attempting to open AIFF files located from your local library.
Can you confirm there hasn’t been any changes to your network, or locations of your shared folders holding your library?
That makes more sense. No nothing has changed between when things were stable and when the compilations subdir started disappearing and reappearing.
Hey @Peter_Galvin1,
Please update your server and remotes to the latest Roon production version, and let me know if you continue to experience issues.
We’ll be on standby for your results!

(Roon closes threads too quickly. Opening another one.)
This problem has reappeared: (Roon forgets and re-adds compilation albums intermittently (ref#YF67HX) - #8 by Peter_Galvin1)
Running Roon 2.0 (1490). Not sure if it was triggered by ripping a compliation CD via iTunes and roon scanning the directory structure, but that’s possible.
1/2 of my albums disappeared from Roon. I think all of the compilation directory.
Restarted Roon, still not found. Changed albums in itunes to not be compilations (causing the compilation dir within my itunes directories which Roon scans to change) and the albums were rediscovered. You can see from the album count of the screen shots.
Not a disaster but annoying because I view my albums by date added and that gets scrambled when this happens.

Hi @Peter_Galvin1 ,
Thanks for reaching out again and sorry to hear you’re still having issues.
When/if you are seeing this issue again, can you please let us know the exact local date + time of when you notice the issue happen, and then the exact local date + time of when you use the album change to rediscover the albums?
Also, by “album change”, how exactly did you perform this? By editing the metadata in iTunes, or is there a specific process you used? Have you seen this occur with non-itunes albums in the past, or is the behavior limited to these iTunes albums?
Hi Noris,
Will do on grabbing details the next time this happens.
Tried to trigger it by changing an album from a compilation in iTunes and rescanning in Roon but caused no problem.
Yes, editing the metadata in itunes - changing between compilation and not causes the files to move in and out of the …/compilations directory tree within the itunes library location.
Hmm, iTunes is my method for managing my 2 channel non-dsd music. I also have a dir tree with multichannel music and one for dsd music outside of itunes. Haven’t notice that modifying those causes a problem but will keep a closer eye on things and try to find patterns…
