Describe the issue

Since the 2.67 upgrade Roon is freezing and I have to disable and enable the SR11 streamer to fix the issue. Nothing has changed in my set up pre the upgrade. This is an old issue that has returned and has happened multiple times since the upgrade

Describe your network setup

Comcast router, hard connected via Ethernet to a Sonictransporter, iPad Air for Roon app

Hello @mlittle110,

Thank you for your patience. We have reviewed your logs in detail and can share what we found.

The good news is that this is not a Roon regression. The SR11 RAAT daemon has been crashing and reconnecting several times per day since at least May 12 — well before the 2.67 upgrade:

05/25 05:00:09 [FiiO SR11 @ 10.0.0.207:35113] OnDisconnected: BeginRead ead count is 0
05/25 05:00:16 [FiiO SR11 @ 10.0.0.207:35113] OnDisconnected: unknown
05/25 05:00:16 [transport] destroyed zone FiiO was playing? False

What changed with 2.67 is that the updated RAAT protocol triggers a new failure mode that does not recover automatically:

05/27 09:14:21 failed to sync sender clock to endpoint FiiO SR11
05/27 09:14:23 failed to sync sender clock to endpoint FiiO SR11
05/27 09:14:33 failed to sync sender clock to endpoint FiiO SR11
05/27 09:14:35 failed to sync sender clock to endpoint FiiO SR11
05/27 09:14:47 [transport] destroyed zone FiiO was playing? False

This is why you now see freezes requiring a manual reset rather than the silent self-recovery you may not have noticed before.

We also see significant RTT spikes from the SR11 — round-trip times of 30–40ms where the normal expected value is under 1ms:

05/31 10:49:25 long rtt sync FiiO SR11: rtt=30668us
05/31 11:04:35 long rtt sync FiiO SR11: rtt=35883us
05/31 11:32:05 long rtt sync FiiO SR11: rtt=32990us
05/31 11:50:15 long rtt sync FiiO SR11: rtt=39717us

This points to instability in the SR11’s RAAT implementation itself, most likely related to USB or firmware.

We would recommend the following:

  1. Try a different USB cable between the SR11 and your server — this is the easiest first step and rules out a physical cause
  2. Check for a FiiO SR11 firmware update and install it if available
  3. As a temporary measure, go to Settings → Audio → FiiO SR11 → Device Setup and increase Resync Delay to around 1000–2000ms

If the issue persists after the above, we would suggest reaching out to FiiO support directly, as the root cause appears to be in the SR11’s RAAT daemon rather than in Roon itself.
