Describe the issue

Roon Unusable Since the Update

Hello,

Since the update, I've experienced latency issues of several tens of seconds, but almost always a complete freeze.
If it starts listening, it stops mid-stream. The message "waiting for your Roon server" appears. The initial connection to the Roon server is successful. Afterward, if it prompts me to connect, it either appears in red or doesn't appear at all.

Configuration:
Roon server on a Windows 11 PC. All wired connections.
2 clients on Windows 11 PCs and Wi-Fi.

Trying the following actions without success:
Turning off the router for one minute.
Restarting the router, then the server, then the client.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
André.

Hi @Andre_Huot,

Thanks for the details, and for confirming that the reboot steps and Library throttling change did not make a difference. Since the issue only started after the update and is happening across multiple Roon Remotes, we’d like to enable diagnostics on the next occurrence.

Please let us know the exact local date and time when the issue happens again, and we’ll turn diagnostics on from there. That will give us a clear view of what Roon Server is doing when the freezes and latency hit.

Grand merci pour votre retour rapide !

Heure locale France.

Les quatre interruptions suivantes s’accompagnent toutes du message « waiting for your roon server »

Petites interruptions de quelques secondes à : 15h31, 15h32 et 15h33, reprise automatique de la musique.

A 15h36, interruption permanente, lecture à l’arrêt, se relance en cliquant sur bouton lecture.

Merci.

André.

Sorry, my previous reply was in French.

Thank you so much for your quick response !

Local time (France ).

The following four interruptions are all accompanied by the message “waiting for your serve r.”

Brief interruptions of a few seconds at: 3:31 PM, 3:32 PM, and 3:33 PM, with music resuming automatica lly.

At 3:36 PM, a complete interruption; playback stopped, but resumes when the play button is cli cked .

Tha nk you.

André.

Hey @Andre_Huot,

Thanks for the additional information! From a fresh diagnostic report, we can see a handful of errors that are leading to the issues you’ve shared.

See if any of the following steps help:

  • Disable MQA/upsampling temporarily — the CXN100 zone is doing 16/44 QOBUZ FLAC => 32/705600. This is extremely CPU-intensive. Go to Settings → DSP for the CXN100 zone and turn off Sample Rate Conversion or set it to "Custom" limited to 192kHz. This will free significant CPU during the metadata crunch.
  • Turn off Audio Analysis completely — go to Settings → Library → set both Background and On-Demand Audio Analysis to Off until the metadata queue clears. The queue is processing ~50–100 tracks per second and has 100,000+ remaining.
  • Update CXN100 firmware — the 1,992 TLS authentication errors against the CXN100's Chromecast interface suggest a certificate/firmware incompatibility with the current Roon version. Check Cambridge Audio's website for a firmware update for the CXN100.
  • Give it 24–48 hours — the metadata re-indexing queue (104,000–176,000 tracks) is the root cause of the resource exhaustion. Once it completes, the handle leak and GC pressure should subside significantly. The system started at ~104k items in the latest session (after restart), so it has made progress.
Can you also share more details around your use of VB-Audio Voicemeeter with Roon / RAAT?

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks, that’s clear and concise !

I’ve done everything. I’m waiting for the Cambridge update because the automatic one isn’t working.

And I’ll wait 48 hours .

I’ll confirm that everything is OK afterward.

I’ll uninstall Voicemeeter if you think that’s best. I installed it to measure the sound in the room. I haven’t used it because I don’t have a microp hone yet.

Thanks.

André.

Hey @Andre_Huot,

Sounds good - we’ll be monitoring for your reply!

You can likely hold onto it for now, I don’t foresee your issues being connected to Voicemeter in this case. :+1:

Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for your reply .

Noted regarding Voicemeete r.

1 – Interruptions after update

2 – Unable t o start

3 – ARC

1 – Interruptions af ter update

I think it’s fixed because I listened for several hours yesterday without a ny problems.

I followed all your instructions. Thank you! I reactivated the two library settings and it’s wor king now.

Note that Cambridge support informed me that V139-b-003 is the late st version.

I don’t remember if this was before or after ye ster day’s update.

2 – Unable to start

This problem occurs regularly (before the update) but doesn’t usually lead to a complete freeze like it does now. I’ve never submitted a tick et a bout this before.

At startup (around 10:05 AM, French local time):

“Connect to your Roon server ,” click, then return to

“Connect to your Roon server,” cli ck again (no effect), and

“Select another Roon server,” click. The Roon server will either be green or red, turning g reen within a few seconds.

“Connect to your Roon server,” click ina ctive, nothing happens.

Restart PC,

“Connect to you r Roon server,” click, OK.

This sequence appeared a f ew times before the last update.

The difference now i s th at the music is then blocked.

Following the prev ious sequence:

Local time France.

10:43 AM: Music stops wi thout a message, restarts on its own.

10:44 AM: Waiting for you Roon s erver, then click, listening inactive.

10:46 AM: Nothing playing.

10:48 AM: Track title rea ppea rs, click, listening still inactive.

Restart PC and Roon without is sue.

11:00 AM: Music starts immediately.

11:02 AM: Interrupt ion of several seconds when changing tracks .

11:03 AM: Music stops without a message.

11:05 AM: Waiting for you Roon server, then unable to restart m usic.

Restart PC and Roon without issue.

11:20 AM: Playback starts after 10 sec onds , stops 10 seconds later, impossible restart.

11:21 AM A ndré gives up… and will message Benjamin later.

3 – ARC

No longer works after the Roon update. Reinstalled ARC and res tarted Android, still stuck on the logo at startup.

I read that th ere will be an ARC updat e on Google Play, so I’m waiting.

Thanks, Benjamin!

My apologies @Andre_Huot, from your above reply it’s difficult to tell if you’re still experiencing issues or if things have stabilized for you.

If Arc is giving you issues, can you please navigate to your Roon Settings > Roon Arc and check ‘advanced’ for any specific error codes? Share the error code here if you see one.

Thank you!

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the lack of clarity .

Yes, it worked perfectly for several hours uninterrupted the day before yesterday (even with library settings re-enabled without sample rate conversion), which is why I thought the problem was solv ed.

But since then, it hasn’t worked and is difficult to s tart .

(Library settings disabled, no sample rate conv ersion)

S equence:

Start PC and Roon

S ee photos.

1 – Cli ck inactive

2 – Click on select a Roon server

3 – Roon is green but the click is inactive.

Resta rt PC and Roon

4 – Cl ick on run.

Then

5 – Launch conference

6 – Problem reappears

7 – Total interruption, but sometimes the track resumes after a few seconds or resta rts manual playback.

ARC

Was working before.

Stuck on the logo, waiting 10 min. (rein stalled, Android update)

Hey @Andre_Huot,

Thank you for the breakdown! I’m sorry to hear your issues persist.

After reviewing a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report, we noticed something odd - the newest log entry across all 12 files is November 1, 2025 — and then nothing after that.

It looks like your Windows system clock may be wrong. If the PC clock is still set to late 2025, this could be causing a plethora of different issues.

As a next step, please check your Windows system clock right now — Settings → Time & Language → Date & Time.

If it’s showing a date in 2025, that’s the root cause of everything. A wrong system clock would absolutely cause Roon’s auth tokens to fail (they’re time-sensitive), explain the Unauthorized loop, and cause the freezes.

The fix would be to enable “Set time automatically” in Windows and sync to an NTP server, then restart Roon.

Let me know if this helps! :folded_hands:

Hello Benjamin,

No problem, I understand that complex software requires some adjustments ;

The time is correct. And it was set automatically.See photo.

Mystery.

André.

Hi Benjamin,

THANK YOU !

Everything works, startup without any problems (tested twice), no interruptions in playback for about two hou rs.

If the interruption occurs again, I’ll check the c lock .

ARC is still stuck on its logo. (Ready in se ttin gs)

Thank you.

Have a good day .

André.
