Roon freezes and stops responding saying it is loading artist

Description of Issue

When I try and load Roon on my iMac it won’t i.e. Roon not responding but it works find on my remote devices. It was fine has been working fine for years but now when I went to one Artist on the list it just freezes and stop responding saying it is loading artist. I have to start it to make the remove devices work and they do but not the iMac.

I have tried reinstalling Roon on my iMac with. no success.

The remote devices show the Core Downloading but there is an error checking for an update, but Roon works as normal on my remote devices!!!

I can’t get the iMac to load at all.
I have a lifetime licence, will it take a lifetime to fix this problem?

I also have this problem in my MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.2.1. I open the Roon app and the ol’ spinning beachball of death graces me with its presence…

Roon core works fine on other devices, it’s just the app on the MacBook that will not load…

Is there any change in behavior if you set the old database aside?

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
  • Restore a Roon backup (if avalaible)
