Roon Freezes/ Need Reboot

This seems to be a known issue. See below. Why does it keep happening and why isn’t addressed in software updates?

Hello @scotthoskins890,

Thank you for reaching Roon Support.

If your Roon Server and Roon Client are running on the same PC, the simplest way to reboot both is to restart the whole system.

If you’d like to restart them without rebooting the PC:

  1. Exit the Roon Client from the application bar.

  2. Then, locate the Roon icon in the taskbar (near the clock).

  3. Right-click on the icon and select Exit.

This will stop both the server and the client processes, and you can relaunch Roon afterward.

This quote is a year old. Many performance and memory improvements have been made since, which improved it for many but not everyone (and for these users it was still best to reboot occasionally).

The update that was released yesterday was supposed to address the majority of remaining such issues. Unfortunately this got drowned out by two problems, which were fixed today.

Therefore, try the new updates and if you still experience issues, open a support case to have it investigated.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I just updated to the most recent release. I’m hopeful this will solve the issue.

Thanks again!
