Description of Issue

Hi Gunnar,

Can you post what you used as a search when this issue happens?

I searched for “a certain girl” Then “Ernie K-doe” then anything …
I had successfully searched for more then 30 songs when Roon evaporated after this search:
If I restarted Roon this search automaticly “continued” taking Roon down again after 0,5 seconds.
After several tries I managed hit the arrow < taking me back to a pre-search page.
Roon then works fine untill I start another search

Hey @Gunnar_Parelius,

Apologies for the slow response here.

Is this in your local library or Qobuz/Tidal? If it’s via Qobuz or Tidal, this may help and may be easier than a full reinstall. I’m presenting these options because I have tried to duplicate this with the same MacOS and Roon versions but couldn’t.

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Find and open your Roon database
  • Navigate to Roon/Cache
  • Move the contents of the /Cache folder elsewhere, like your desktop
  • Try restarting Roon and verify if the issue still occurs

The other option is to get medieval on it and wipe it all. Here are the steps for that but I am HOPING it will be as easy as letting that cache folder rebuild!

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Please do try these things and let us know how it goes. We’d love to see this resolved for you.

Kindest regards,
Wes

I tried both, but the problem persist.
After the “cache rebuild” I managed to search and find the song “A certain girl”- even add it to my playlist - but when i clicked the artist link the program crashed again.
With the medieval method I am able to successfully reseach and find both song and artist on a fresh datebase.
But when i restore the database the issue still persists - Im sad to say.

BTW:
I have no problem searching for songs/artists/albums already part of my database, the problem occurs when searching qobuz for anything outside of my archive.

Hi @Gunnar_Parelius ,

Are you still seeing this issue on the latest Roon version or has there been any change in behavior? Can you please list the time + date + search that causes the next crash, if you are still seeing the issue?

Hi noris

I no longer have any problem.
disappeared with latest Roon version
so I|m happy - (could even be a problem with Qobuz as it is very slow at times - my connection to the internet ?? : 725.00 Mbps down 740.00 Mbps up)
