Roon doesn’t have any info on any new music
half of any music new or old I’m listening to has zero info
I just love the credits that say :this guy: is “primary artist” thank you so much this is exactly what I wanted to know, not what instrument they are playing!
so I’m copying artist/track/album names/titles and pasting into copilot or chat GPT and I can’t see why I should keep paying a subscription to Roon anymore honestly… ok, multiroom, that’s great but there are free solutions for that in 2024 (or included with streaming like spotify connect or tidal connect etc)
So are there any plans to bring in proper AI/LLM/GPT into the Roon interface? or is Roon going to let Chat GPT eat its lunch?
A bit aggressive but ok. Maybe you could tell us how you would want an AI integrated? Would you pay extra or want to use an API key? What parts of Roon UI do you want to have a chat window?
Personally, I’d rather have at lest somewhat curated data, not some random AI (and while it’s certainly “artificial,” there is no “intelligence” to it whatsoever) hallucinations.
I feel that although the OP’s suggestion could have been better written and communicated, the premise of using AI to improve meta data is a great idea.
Electronic and Metal genres would certainly benefit.
Assuming an AI integration could produce accurate information.
Many emerging and new artists lack good meta data. photos, etc.
Perhaps a Bandcamp integration could help here also.
I just want Roon to keep its promise of providing information on the artists and music. I think AI would be a great way to do that. If Roon doesn’t figure it out someone else will and we’ll all be using that…

You can’t really verify ChatGPT’s output as being valid or correct. When Roon uses its current providers they at least some human curation and oversight but errors still occur with disambiguation more than anything. Not sure I want a lot of unvalidated data thrown at me.
It’s not sensitive people that matter, it’s Roon employees who work hard and do their best to provide us a great product. They could do without the insults.
I have no troubles getting tons of info on my 50,000 song library. The info is nice to say the least. What really makes me a Roon fan is the way it sounds on my system and the way it never messes with my own curated files. I can’t tell you how often I-tunes screwed up my library or erased my playlists. The mobile app needs a lil tweak but being patient as it is soooo much better than itunes. What percentage of allotted space is being used would be nice. Also rate of download throttle, to keep iphone from heating up so much.
