Description of Issue -
Roon loses connection to Lumin P1 Mini several times a day. Only rebooting the Roon Server helps to reconnect. Rebooting the Lumin P1 Mini does not help.
What is the exact port forwarding error message you see in the Roon Settings → ARC tab?
I don’t get any messages. The Roon app is just “dead“ on any device, cannot do anything on the Roon apps. To play music I have to use the Lumin app. Via the Lumin app I can play music, so the network connection from the ipad to the Lumin P1 Mini or Synology NAS is not the problem.
Yeterday Roon could nog even show the genre listings, they were empty. I decided to remove all datafolders from the setup and to rebeuild it peace by peace.
That resulted in s stable Roon up til now, monday 12:16.
I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
I have no idea how to reproduce the instablility. It happened after the last update. From freezing to not listing my NAS contents as empty genres. On my Ipad, but also on the desktop PC that runs Roon Server.
After deleting all NAS datafolders and gradually restoring them, Roon server is stable and quite responsive.
The only thing still not stable is the app on my iPad. It refreshes the screen about every 2 seconds. I have an iPad Air 11-inch. IOS: 26.4.2. My wifi is stable.
What I noticesd as well, when reloading my music in Roon. Not all tags were read properly. As a “clean“ reload I expect it to be perfect, but some music did not appear under the right actual genre but an old value came up….. Refreshing this does not allways result in corrected values, some I did by hand.
Another thing are the lastest Windows updates. This made Explorer instable in the sense that it works fine after rebooting but after a while expanding the tree on the left side does not work anymore. Reboot and there it is again. If you rely for Roon on explorer software, than there might be a cause.
Most of Roon is working fine now. Playing the music I chose is running smooth.
I’m a heavy user of a NAS for my music unlike a lot of people streaming from the internet.
The inventory of the NAS still has hickups. Today I encountered several albums where the genre reading from the music filetag had failed.
I issued “Rescan album” and than new values came, but not the actual values, but old values. Rescanning again I got the first values back, but not the actual values. I couls repeat this as long as I anted but it kept flipping the wrong values.
I ended up in manually changing the genre tag.
I did not check it but maybe this is caused by another phenomena. Reading 2 the same albums on the NAS in stead of one. I am not allways succesfull in correcting that with the supplied tools. Often it just holds on to 2 albums in stead of one. A genre tag issue?
The genre tag issue you describe — where rescanning flips between two different values but never shows the current one — is hard to diagnose without seeing exactly what’s happening. Could you please share:
A screenshot of one of the affected albums in Roon showing the incorrect genre
A screenshot of the actual file tag (you can use a tag editor like MP3Tag or Kid3 to check the current value on the file itself)
Regarding the duplicate albums — that’s likely a separate issue. If you’re seeing the same album twice, could you share a screenshot of that as well? It would help us understand whether Roon is picking up the same files from two different storage paths, or whether there’s something else going on.
