Describe the issue

Hi,
I already reached out to the accounts & billing team which told me to send my question here.
I sadly fear I can't use Roon properly with my favorite gear, as I use a Plinius Toko streamer which is working through upnp, and I have tried to find a solution with a squeezebox bridge, but this seems way too complex for me...

It's sad, because I'm currently using Qobuz with Audirvana which recognize my Toko player, and I would be pleased to compare it with Roon, through the same laptop / switch / Plinius Toko association.

So if you have an easy solution which can help, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
best regards,
C.T.

Describe your network setup

Hey @carstentoti,

Thanks for writing in and welcome to the Roon community! We’re happy to have you here and apologize in that it’s an issue that has prompted your first post.

We completely understand how important it is to use Roon with the gear you love. While Roon doesn’t natively support UPnP (which is why your Plinius Toko isn’t showing up as a playback device), an easy option would be to add a Roon-compatible streamer or endpoint to your setup.

This could be something like a Raspberry Pi running Ropieee, a small dedicated streamer (like a WiiM or iFi device), or even a network bridge like the Sonore microRendu. These would sit between your laptop and Toko (via digital out) and act as a Roon endpoint — without needing to replace your Plinius.

Let me know if this is something you’d feel comfortable with and if you have any additional questions! :raised_hands:

Hi Benjamin,
and thanks for your answer.
From what I’m understanding looking at the devices you have mentioned, the Raspberry Pi seems to be the cheapest solution.
Can I send you a link for a complete kit to make sure this is what I need to run Ropieee?
Also, you wrote about “digital out”, but at the back of my Toko, I only have a “RJ45 connector allowing connection to the Router or Computer Network Device”.
So would the following combination work : Laptop / Raspberry Pi / Toko, all three connected via RJ45 to my Internet switch ?
Thanks again for your help

Hello @carstentoti,

Thank you for the update.

Ropieee will indeed work as a network bridge between Roon and your Toko DAC.

You can find more details about the supported hardware and installation steps in the official guide:

Hi Vadim,
and thanks for your answer.
I’ll ask in the Ropieee Community Discussion if the Raspberry Pi kit I’ve selected will work for me.
Just sad I’ll have lose a lot of time from my two month trial period before I’ll actually be able to test Roon…
Best regards,
C.T.

Hi @carstentoti,
I hope you’ll find the answers you’re looking for in the Ropieee section of Community. I’ll also ask our accounts team to get in touch with you about extending your trial so you have time to test things out with your preferred Ropieee setup. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.
