Most of the time I start my computer, roon won't start up. Sometimes it does, but if i quit it it will probably not start up a second time. The Roon process is visible in the task manager, but the program does not start. Force quitting this process will not enable the software to start. I am on Windows 11.
Note that there are two different programs, RoonServer and Roon. Which one are you referring to?
„RoonServer“ should start automatically after logon, but it does not have a graphical interface as it’s just the server process and responsible for the streaming mechanics and other plumbing in the Roon system.
The separate „Roon“ app provides the control interface. It connects to the RoonServer to control it. It does not start automatically, unless you added it to the autostart items in Windows.
Check this page and make sure that RoonServer is actually running:
As for the Roon app, did you configure it to autostart in Windows, in one of the ways described on the following link, and which one if any?
In any case, for whatever reason it tries to start, clearly it’s failing. There is a Roon documentation page with recommendations for this, maybe something helps. There are also instructions for what to do if nothing helps:
Official Roon support will be around soon and they may have better suggestions. In the meantime, maybe the above gets you a step farther.
Thanks for taking the time to write in and share your report! Welcome to the community as well!
You’re in good hands with @Suedkiez - I did also notice that you’re running an outdated version of Roon on your Windows machine - I’d also make sure to update to the latest version of Roon and Roon Server on the machine, and let me know how things perform.
