The interface to create support posts doesn’t allow for much input. Some more facts:
I am trying to connect to en existing Roon server on an Apple Mac Studio. This is working on the server, and has worked for connections from my iPhone previously, but now the iOS app can’t find the Roon server.
The phone can ping the server (via Net Analyzer app), but can’t “see” the Roon server. I hav recently moved from a Asus router to a new Gl.iNet router, so perhaps that is the issue, but that is not clear. Please advise.
On your iOS device, please go to Settings → Roon, and make sure that “Local Network” access is enabled.
Try reinstalling the Roon Remote app on your iPhone to ensure all permissions and cached settings are refreshed.
On your new Gl.iNet router, could you please confirm whether IGMP (Multicast/IGMP snooping) is enabled? Roon relies on multicast traffic for device discovery, and this setting can impact connectivity.
Lastly, if you have any other devices with the Roon app on the same network (for example, another phone, tablet, or computer), can they see or connect to your Roon Server?
These checks will help us narrow down where the connection is being blocked.
I am on iOS 26.0.1, and there is no such path as you describe. There is settings → apps → Roon, and there is a Local Network slider there. It is set to “on”.
Try reinstalling the Roon Remote app
Done, at least twice. No changes.
On your new Gl.iNet router , could you please confirm whether IGMP (Multicast/IGMP snooping) is enabled?
Interesting; yes there is a setting for this, and it was not enabled:
I downloaded the Roon app to my phone again, and again, it is stuck at “Looking for your Roon server.”. The Roon server is running, and can see my devices (in particular my Denon AVR, which does disappear now and then, but is visible now.)
I tried the “Need help” link, and provided the IP address of my Roon server, but upon entering an IP there the app flips back to “looking” instantly, taking what seems like too little time to actually try to ping or connect.
Oh, yes, that is enabled. With IGMP Snooping enabled, it occurred to me to reboot the router, but I needed to do that overnight. This morning, after a 3AM restart, I could connect to my Roon server from my iPhone via Roon and Roon ARC! The first time I tried, at least.
An hour or so later, I got “waiting for your Roon server”, which is a different, more familiar error. At that point, I tried switching the phone from the MLO band on this very new router, to 5 ghz, and I am back in business, able to play music on my phone via Roon and Roon ARC again.
Problem solved again, for now. Good thing this stuff isn’t complicated!
