Roon is eating my CPUs

Mac Mini late (2018)
Processor 3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
Memory 8GB
Mac OS 10.15…4

Roon Version 1.7 (build 537) stable
Background id set to throttled

Rebooting made it go away. This has happened three times so far.

The RAATServer seems particularly suspicious with no music playing.

In the activity monitor, the Roon process is consuming 312%, and the RAATServer is consuming 100%, and the fan is going full blast.

Hi @Benson_Margulies,

If you try toggling the WiFi adapter off/on, does it also temporarily resolve the issue?

WiFi is always off on this Mac. It has an Ethernet connection to the router/access point. So far, only a reboot had helped; stopping and starting room does not.

Hi @Benson_Margulies,

Even if WiFi is typically off, could you try toggling it on/off and see if that helps temporarily resolve the behavior?

Sure. The next time the Saturn-V launches, I’ll try that.

Toggling on and off helped this time.

I’ve been seeing the same thing. Such an odd problem. Hoping @support is able to get to the bottom of this. I’m happy to provide logs if that would help.

Hi @Benson_Margulies,

We are still actively looking into this issue, please see Dylan’s update here:
