My Core runs on Windows 10 wired to the network with latest Roon 1.7 (521)
There are a few stupid seconds long (hidden) tracks in the middle the Coldplay Everyday Life album. When Roon played one of the 4-second long track, it was stuck and couldn’t get out of it. I restarted Roon, and restarted computer, and even deleted those seconds long tracks (out of iTunes), but nothing helps. When Roon is relaunched after all of the above, it cannot find the album (tracks), then goes to stuck, frozen and unresponsive mode again that I just cannot bring it out of.
However Roon can still play music under the same user profile from another endpoint or from another user profile from any endpoint.
The CD was ripped in Apple Lossless format with .m4a extension. I deleted all those annoying seconds long tracks out of iTunes. But Roon is still frozen on this computer running both Core and endpoint under my profile. Other endpoints still function as long as the frozen Roon (Core) is up.
I noticed similar problem some time ago when Roon simply stopped playing midway through the last track of Sarah Brightman’s album Dreamchaser. That track contains a couple of minutes complete silence till the hidden track fades in. (What a silly music idea).
I can re-rip the CD in the same format from another computer if sample file is needed.
If you could re-rip the media which caused this behavior, that would be very useful for QA purposes.
As for this issue, can I please request that you reproduce the behavior you noted and send me a copy of your Roon logs after by using these instructions?
The best way to get them over would be Dropbox / Google Drive but if you don’t have either service just let me know and I can provide alternate upload instructions.
Thank you for sending those logs and media samples, I have forwarded them to QA for diagnostics purposes.
Can you let me know what the current status is of Roon on your end? Are you able to properly use your profile without this album or are you still having issues when switching to your profile (even though the album has since been removed)?
The 4-second long track was stuck (looping) on my phone under my profile connected to one zone that I couldn’t get out. I relaunched Roon several times with no effect. Then I switched to another zone with no playback issue. That was 2 days ago. Today I launched Roon and switched to the zone in which the playback was stuck, and it showed “nothing is playing”, and I was able to pick up a new album to play. (I deleted those 8 tracks again).
The CD was first ripped using a Windows 10 computer; the sample that I submitted was ripped using a Mac. Both versions give me trouble.
I spoke to QA regarding your case and they have been unable to reproduce this issue on their end using the files you provided.
If you re-add the files back to your Roon library, do you still experience the same behavior? I would suggest creating a Backup of your current database just as a precaution.
If you are able to reproduce this behavior, can you please let me know the exact local time + date of the issue and send a new log package?
Did this issue impact any audio zone or only when trying to output to a specific audio zone?
I copied all of the 8 offending tracks back to the iTunes library, and played them back from another computer to 2 other zones and the tracks now play correctly. In that case, the problem only occurs on the computer hosting the Roon core with the library and also as an end point to a Schiit Bifrost DAC. It’s a Windows 10 computer.
I once again deleted those tracks. They bring annoyance rather than music enjoyment.
Thank you for your help with troubleshooting.

Thanks for confirming the behavior again. Since you are no longer able to reproduce and the tracks have been deleted, we can end troubleshooting here. If you see this behavior with any other file(s), please do let us know and we can take another look. Until next time, take care!
