"Roon is great" thread is closed for hurting someone's feelings

Normally, in a civilized world, debate is accepted on the positive and negative points of various issues. This is theoretically a principle of modern democracy.
Why did Roon close this debate topic? What went wrong?

The Roon Community Forum is conducted under guidelines which set out expected standards. It is not a place where speech is absolutely free. It is a place where you should consider the feelings of others.

The guidelines include the following as to civility:

Always Be Civil

Nothing sabotages a healthy conversation like rudeness:

  • Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
  • Don’t be condescending. Everyone listens to music differently, and we’re all here to share knowledge and learn.
  • Keep it clean. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
  • Respect each other. Don’t harass or grief anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information.
  • Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum.

These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself how you would feel if your post was featured on the front page of the New York Times.

The relevant thread was temporarily closed as it was deteriorating into an off topic personal argument including posts about Moderation.

Moderation can be discussed, but a new thread should be opened in this category to do so. You should read this post first if you have concerns about Moderation.
